I am sitting, typing, and hubby is making us Reuben sandwiches.
We got the stuff to do it yesterday, including some beautiful marbled rye bread.
There are several stories about how this sandwich originated.And some variations on how it is made.
Ours is a grilled sandwich on rye bread. Corned beef, and swiss cheese and sauerkraut with Thousand Island dressing. I read today that if it is made with pastrami or turkey and cole slaw it is called a Rachel.
Originally it had Russian dressing. That may be hard to find.
I have a recipe for a Reuben casserole that has a little mustard and dill pickle in it as well.
Tonight we will have apple pie for dessert.
Food is always a good topic.
Oh, and the rain has stopped for a little bit.

I did. Hubby is a good cook when I can get him to do it. He wanted to go out for a Reuben sandwich. I wanted to eat at home.

Arby's makes a Reuben, but I do not think it has all the right things. It is still very tasty.

He is a good cook, but I have to motivate him. Apple pie was ready made from the store but was very good.
