Aircon in the Supermarket

My husband and I were doing our grocery shopping in Aldi as we need a lot of food like fresh veggies, milk, peanuts and something for our daily bread. It was only 21°C today but I was surprised that the supermarket was already using the aircon. I was only wearing a T-shirt, a long skirt and rubber shoes. I really felt cold that I said to my companion to be fast in getting done with shopping as I was freezing. We have bought what was on the shopping list and a pot of cherry tomato plant which is not on the list. Grocery shopping today has made me so tired. Now I have a headache and I feel like I will be having a cold. My throat is aching. I don´t like the artificial cooler. It makes me sick. I prefer the real cold of winter than the artificial coldness of the air conditioning. I have to drink oregano tea as well as lemon tea to fight the coming cold. I don´t want to get sick. I have a walking schedule for tomorrow. Do you like the coldness of the aircon in the supermarket? Thanks for reading. I think I will take paracetamol tonight before going to bed. See you later in your discussions.

You made me remember all those times in the hot summer when I walked into a freezing supermarket I could not stay to shop if I did not have a sweater with me.

@RasmaSandra, I need a sweater when going shopping at the grocery store even if it is 90 degrees outside. It is awful.

It was not yet too hot yesterday that was why I didn't bring my coat with me in the shop. I couldn't stay in a shop with aircon for too long. Thanks @RasmaSandra. Have a nice day.

here, i believe supermarkets have lower cool temperature in their thermostat. it is the malls' way to say, there should be no standby around. Filipinos are known for just sitting idly in the cool malls.

@thelme55 just like in Q8. it was burning hot outside while we wait for our transportation, and when we enter the hospital, it was cold because the AC was at its full

Yes, we are known for that @ridingbet. It is unhealthy to stay in a cold shopping mall and when you go outside, you are hit by the hotness of the weather. I think that is the reason why people are getting sick. Thank you.

I can't stand it either @LadyDuck. It was always a problem with me when flying out o the Philippines. I always have to wear a jacket because of the aircon.

@thelme55 I did the same, in the United States they have TOO COLD aircon in every place you go. You freeze inside their restaurants, it is crazy!

Gladfully, I took herbal teas last night when I noticed I was feeling sick. I also took paracetamol before going to bed. Now I am okay for a walk this afternoon. Thank you @JudyEv. Enjoy your day.

Sometimes the a/c in grocery stores can be too much, especially around the open coolers. Its walking from the a/c in the car outside to a store where there is a/c that gets the better of me. That in between often causes me a headache.

@thelme55 Today our temperatures dropped quite a bit. My husband wanted to keep the air conditioning on inside as he was off from work today and had the oven on this afternoon, so it would have got quite warm.

I still don´t like too cold aircon. When I am in my home in the Philippines, I only use the lowest temperature of the aircon so I will not be hit by the hot weather outside when I go out of the house. I already feel better. Thank you @birjudanak

Aircon in stores and movie theaters is normally set to below freezing (in my opinion) makes me uncomfortable half the time.

@DocAndersen my reaction is the opposite of what the shop owner wants. I always shop so fast that I mostly forget something because of that cold. Their loss, not mine.

@thelme55 that would seem to me to be the opposite of what the store would want. I figure they want you to walk slowly and realize you need two more things not on the list!

supermarkets use the Aircon to make people stay longer and not feel the need to go out to have some fresh air. they also add some music to calm you down so that you don't get distracted and buy your heart content.

I think that is the case in Asia @jayanth_77. People here would like to go outside and have a tan when hot summer. Grilling themselves at the lake, river or even on their balcony.
