Cleaning the Inbox.

I still call it the inbox, although every one seems to call it messenger now. That is where my messages from friends are deposited. And I have ignored it for some three years, since it started to fill with chain messages and greetings and emoticons. The other day though, I deemed it time for deleting the bulk of unnecessary forwards. To my shock, one friend send an obit of another friend who died 3 September last year. Hu hu. And I sent message at once as to the circumstances of the death. Lung cancer. 60 years old. Hu hu My other friend reprimanded me, of course, for being incommunicado. Yes, I received that nagging "Life is short." Trite but true.

@LadyDuck I see. Yes, those are important e-mails that must be checked. It's a little rustic with me though. Never applied for a credit card. And I just drop by the doctor's office for a change in appointment.

That is the habit of the wise. And one who cares. When it is important though, family and friends call me.

@eileenleyva Also my family and friends call, but my bank sometimes sends an email, same the Credit Card company, it is better that I check. Even my doctor could send an email to change an appointment.

The inbox is always in a mess because of so many useless messages that pop up.

@amitkokiladitya Indeed, there are so many spam mails that they can occupy a lot of space.

@amitkokiladitya Well Telecom companies have our details. Insurance companies also have a lot of our details, if ever we have taken a policy from one company. In my initial days of investments, I was often contacted by Insurance Agents who knew all the fine details of the policies I had from other companies. Afterwards, I sometimes asked the people calling as to from where they got the details. Some became defensive. Others showed ignorance. I also suspect various Credit Rating agencies might also be selling consumer data.

Sometimes it can be annoying to have those nonsensical messages you get from there but there are also some that may be urgent so you should never ignore to check it from time to time.

I discussed the predicament with my daughter. She said that kind of activity is endemic to my generation. Her friends wouldn't send her card greetings and emojis in the private messages. My friends send me videos and crazy games to decipher. Grrrrr. And superstitious chain letters. I always tell family and friends that if it's important, call me and tell me loud and clear. I still have a landline to this day.

@eileenleyva Haha landlines are becoming obsolete nowadays. They are just used when ordering food or something like that. The fastest way is email or direct messenger its almost instant since once sent its sent and you can chat or call them as fast as it is sent.

@rsa101 All my family and friends know I am not tech savvy. Am not even a cell phone user. Only for text messages with my daughter, and friends in need.

Well, I regularly check my mails on Gmail. But many of the mails on Yahoo Mail (which is my oldest email id) are in Thousands. I do occasionally clear up things, but not too frequently. May be, I need a lot of time one day to clear up a lot of the mails.

I am like that too. I used to could keep up with my email, but now I don't. I had deleted alot of my email once and read one email saying one person got divorced which I was sad about.

That is good advice, thank you. Though this person has long been oblivious to the matters of urgency. Not that I do not care. Just that, I prefer nourishing every minute and every second of my life.
