I’m not going to get into the right or wrong or whether it should or shouldn’t have happened. I don’t know enough about the story to make those kinds of calls. I did have a few thoughts about this though that I wanted to say.
The story is about the guy who died in Minneapolis while in the custody of the police. From what I seen and hear on the news the cop was kneeling on the guys neck not something new. Cops do this all the time to keep someone on the ground. Again, right or wrong I don’t know, I’m not a cop and I am not in the situation to know.
One thing I heard was some guy on the news saying, “if you or I did that we would be in jail”. Well he is not wrong we would be, but then again, we have no authority to apprehend someone so we would have no need to do this unless we were trying to defend ourselves. In which case if we could prove that we would not be in jail.
The other thing I seen on the news is as they called it the “protests” that are going on in Minneapolis. Now I will be honest I didn’t look up the definition of protest compared to riot. In my head a protest is some people standing around with picket signs or chanting “hell no we won’t go” or some such stuff. A riot on the other hand is people looting stores, flipping cars, starting fires or some other nonsense.
Now what I seen in the video they were showing was certainly a riot in my mind so why do they only call it a “protest”? I also don’t understand when there is an issue with the police and people get pissed about it and decide to riot why are they destroying the local neighborhood? I assume they are trying to show the cops that they should act different. So how is stealing TV’s and burning down a Target do that? I mean flipping cop cars and burning down police stations seem like it would be the thing to do.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not suggesting that anyone should do that, but it would make more sense to me. I certainly do not have the answers for how things like this stop happening, but I also don’t know the details about this case.

@CarolDM Unfortunately those are the guys/girls we always hear about, and people are scream from the roof tops about. We don't get to hear about officers like officer Veit, who treated teenage me fair and with respect no matter how many run ins he had with this idiot. Officer Johnson who was a class act all around. Not to mention the 1,000's of other officers that are great people doing a thankless job.
