Identified Feather Found in Yard

Was out checking on the bird eggs yesterday and found this 19 inch long feather in the garden. It was huge. I wondered what kind of bird dropped it behind. Any ideas? I researched and found out this is a turkey vulture (aka buzzard) feather. When I realized what kind it was, I tossed it of course. You never know what you might find in your yard. This was a first for me. Had to share with you. Have you found a feather before? There are sayings that it is often a sign from a loved one. I think they are wrong about this feather. But you never know.

We have buzzards in Florida and they are all black. I find blue jay feathers a lot in my yard. I believe it, too.

Yes, we've found feathers before. Never a buzzard feather.

I researched and it is identical to a vulture or buzzard. I don't see pigeons around here. It is 19 inches long.

I used to send the molted feathers from my parrots to a project that gave them to Native Americans for their ceremonial pieces.

@CarolDM I get small feathers from the bully upstairs. He throws whatever he wants on our porch. I would throw that away too. what I get on my porch is out of hate.

I`m not sure about the beliefs but I was told that a loved one is visiting you when a butterfly suddenly went inside you home

I think I would have kept that feather even though it is from a buzzard- they can't help who they are! I have found magpie feathers. I love the variety of color patterns on feathers.

I started to but I have many others that are all small. This one kind of didn't fit in my collection. They are all unique.

That sounds a really long feather. Do you ever see buzzards there?
