In fact I am a person who don't like wasting the food. The pandemic has changed some of my habits and now I even do it extremely I'd like to share you how I take advantage of this watermelon skin. My husband peeled the dark green skin. And he cut the red flesh and then we can eat it as the fruit. The left will be cooked like gourd. Just need to add little vinegar, sugar and salt. Fry it and then it will become a nice dish

@youless I add the peels of all fruits and potatoes to the compost bin in the garden, it's not wasted at least.

I have learned how to be less wasteful during this time . . . it has changed my habits as well! I will say the internet has given me good ideas/recipes - I don't know that I would have thought of these things myself. Is that watermelon skin sort of like a pickle?

@youless I know I've bitten that part of the watermelon . . . it's something we gave to our pet tortoise in my childhood . But with the right seasonings, I suppose it can be something quite edible and good . . . I'll have to try to cook one!

I am always going on the computer when I have something I never had before. I have to know how to cook it and if I think I would like it or not.

In fact I also take advantage of the shrimp shells. I occasionally found that it tastes really well after deep-fried. And you can also use the mixer to make it as powder and it can work like seasoning

@youless My mother use to make it as a fruit salad bowl and scoop out all the insides and cut that out into small cubes and put it back in and use it as a center piece during the summer when we ate outside. Everyone loved it.
