Procrastination!

I really want to finish my 15th year as a part-time nurse/clinical instructor; last second semester of school year 2019-2020 should be my 15th year, but COVID19 came last Feb-March, so we were at a standstill.
Because of the quarantine and the lock down, my chance of retiring came unintentionally and unexpectedly. Now, I think our school will have the online education but this is not fine for us who should handle our students in the clinical setting.
I am having doubts if I should still continue finishing another semester for my 15th year; this should be this semester of 2020-21. But with the hotness of the climate and me often having difficult breathing especially at night, I am now toying with the idea to retire even without informing the school.
Where does procrastination take place?
It is accomplishing the documents for my Social Security System payments and my Home Development Mutual Fund premiums. Also, doing my senior citizen card.
I postpone because I have the ambivalent feeling of pushing through working for 1 more semester, or enjoy my retirement now.
What you you do if you are in my place?

I think that depends on how you can do with the changes the school will be implementing with. With the changes will you be able to adapt still with it. It would drastically change the way you deliver your skills to your students. The next thing you should consider is your physical capability. Are you physically and mentally prepared to teach under the risk of getting infected while on duty. Are there comorbidities that you may have right now? I think you should consider this things before you decide for another semester before finally retiring.

@ridingbet I know that would be a very difficult situation but of course with the new normal that is about to happen there will be lots of things that needs to be adjusted tom prevent being exposed to the virus. And of course will you be willing to still go to the hospital and perform those knowing that the hospital is fully exposed to the virus.

since i handle students in the hospital setting, it is difficult for us to teach our students online. imagine this:
i would teach my students the proper way of inserting a sterile Foley catheter French 16 to a male patient with a full bladder, ONLINE!
it is hard to not allow the students not to have the 'hand-on' learning of these skills

that is why i am asking the responders about "what would you do if you were in my place"? will you continue your work, or you get in to retirement?

I'm already retired from working out there and I'm not even 40. Now that I'm working online with my dream job, I think I will not be retiring even if I reached the retirement age.

@ridingbet Yes. But I don't plan to rely on those. It's not going to really support me enough when I reach 65.

@ridingbet I notice that some people are reluctant to wear a mask and to keep the distance, I am very careful.

@LadyDuck why, should they be embarrassed to wear masks?
when i had my duty in the hospital and when i am in general wards (not in intermediate medical care unit), i discourage my students to wear masks. i tell them we should be models of health and we should not be icky with the different odors that may emit from patients' wounds.

I have to admit that I also procrastinate with that kind of chore - doing the documents or application.

@ridingbet maybe I would cook or do other chores than handling papers. Even when buying plane tickets online, it is my wife who does that.

thanks. i think i have made my decision now.
my beloved sister, in a very unmindful voice, said this morning that 'i should do my papers for my pension now because i paid my premiums higher in amount than hers".

it's hard enough processing those government before the covid crisis. it would be even harder now with new protocols in place and still no transportation.

i agree with you. i think i will do the documents now; anyway, there is no word from the Dean of the College of Nursing if we, part time clinical instructors, will be absorbed by the school, considering it will be online learning now.

i don't think so. i will be 61 years this November, and i really plan to finish my 15th year as an employee of the school. having my pension would mean i should not be working anymore.

Don't ask others suggestions if it is your life related decisions.. Just think about yourself and take good decision.. This is your life so you have full rights to judge about it.. Hope you take good decision.
