Do you like our shelves?

One of our ‘social isolation’ tasks was to go through our hundreds of photos and try to eliminate those that were really of no value. I’m talking about hard copies, not digital photos.
I’ve come across a couple of photos that I thought I could use here so now I’ve scanned them ready to write about. I’ve been a bit short of material lately but now I’ll be right for a discussion or three.
The photo shows a storage unit we made years ago for the workshop. Vince rescued the drawers from a skip bin at the school where he worked. The runners weren’t really cheap but we bought, from memory, a pack of about 40, which made them much cheaper. The frame is welded and the runners pop-rivetted to the frame.
We made two for ourselves and one for a friend. She returned hers when she downsized so we now have three of these in the workshop. Some of the runners found a home in our laundry cupboard. They work well and cost only a fraction of anything commercially available.

@JudyEv I need more storage and have been looking for shelves and pantries. You are fortunate to have these.

My wife wants to buy one like that for our stock room. But I declined because we have no more space in the stock room.

I noticed a lot of book tubers have little trolley carts for their TBR pile. I really wanted to get one of those but they are about $60... and I have bookshelves full of books to be read. Too many to put in a trolley.
As for pictures, I'm afraid to get rid of any of them. I want to do a hard cover book for each of my girls - memory books. I keep putting it off because their baby pictures were taken before we had camera phones so I would have to take pictures of the pictures (scanning is really poor quality and is actually more work). I was going to do them for their high school graduation, then college/university graduation, then Christmas. I think I'm looking at the 30th birthdays at this point. They gave me a lovely one for Mother's Day which, yes, it made me cry. I can't imagine getting rid of any pictures. I need the memories. I don't want dementia setting in.

I'm not talking so much of personal photos but photos of workplaces or houses that will mean nothing to our sons. They will have enough to sort through with all the personal stuff. Books for each daughter sound a really good idea.

@JudyEv We went through the downsizing of my mother's residences 3 times. Pictures were thrown our way. I already have a framed photo of my wedding, I don't need another. LOL. Nor do I need a framed photo of my sister's wedding. And though I have no use for photos from my parents' travels, they may come in handy one day as they went to some nice places like Greece. But I don't need pictures of their friends.
And now we're going through it again with my husband's parents.

Interesting, Judy...
Pretty and I need some more storage in our house since we have way too much stuff for this new house... We really miss all the cabinets we had in our old kitchen. We moved two of our book cases into the kitchen here but still need to figure out more storage. *sigh*

@JudyEv It didn't help that we went from 1,400 sq ft of space to 750 sq ft of space, either. (And are paying $75 a month more for the privilege. *sigh*)

@DaddyEvil That must be really difficult. I am dreading having to scale down too much but it will happen one day.

That's very nice handiwork! We have shelves just like that at each of the swimming pools I manage, which we use to hold paperwork that needs to be submitted to our administrative office. Of course, our shelves are nowhere near as nice as your shelves!

@DocAndersen To each his own. Fixing computers would be very handy in this day and age.

We have three sets of these now. We scavenged a heap of drawers and bought the runners in bulk. We had scrap of tubing in the workshop although we probably bought a couple of lengths so we made two for ourselves then thought our friend might like one. :)

@JudyEv It is certainly clearer than keeping everything in one box, it can be nicely distributed here

Actually they are quite useful. We had them in each of our Montessori environments in school and teachers could use them for storing and organizing stuffs. I found them really helpful.
