After much thought I have decided to attend my uncle's funeral tomorrow.
I will drive to my cousin's home tonight, four hours away. We will leave in the morning for another three hours. Then I will come home right after the services.
I will keep my head held high and my only purpose is to pay my respects to my dear uncle I love so much. Any drama will not be welcome. He knew who was real and who loved him. That is all that matters.
There are many stories that have occurred over the past few months. I will not bore you with the details. But I will not allow anyone to enter my space with drama or fake tears.
Flowers in the photo above will be delivered tomorrow for him and placed on his grave.
Hopefully the storm will not get in our way. We will be careful.
May my uncle rest in peace. He was a very distinguished man that should be remembered with high honors. Loved by all who knew him and my hero forever.

Its good that you are at peace with whatever drama took place and that you have your priorities straight and will be there when they lay your uncle to rest.
I'm sure that he will be looking down at you and smiling.
Drive safely, that is a long trip back.

Oh, Carol, I don't know how I missed your post, but I am so sorry about your dear uncle. I know your heart is broken, but comforted to know he's at rest now. I'll keep you in my prayers throughout tomorrow that the real man he was will be shown all the respect and love he deserved.

No problem Vicki. It has been such a struggle. He was my Dad's older brother. Thank you, he was very respected by all that knew him.
Got the news late last night that my uncle passed away in the nursing home in quarantine, on a ventilator, from COVID. I had a feeling all week he was...

I know you will avoid any drama. Again, please be safe. What state are you going to? I hope you have good weather.

@CarolDM Too bad you couldn't visit Angie. We thought we were going to be able to visit in September; but she's a couple of hours (there and back) out of the way from where we are headed.
