Detours and Dinner Plans

Today proved interesting. My pastor mentioned there was a protest downtown today. I didn't think anything about it when I left the church. I found it when I got into the heart of downtown on the way home and needed to detour around it. That was fun. No direct route home today. My route would look like a maze.
I made dinner plans for Thursday night. I asked my associate pastor and his wife for dinner and a look at her calendar produced this Thursday. I'm totally excited. They were a huge help to me when my son had my car and other times as well. I'm leaning towards a pot roast. It shouldn't heat up the house cooking it in the crockpot. This will be my first dinner party outside of the family. I'm really looking forward to it.
Do you have dinner parties? Do you have a standard menu for your dinner party? Or do you throw it together at the last minute?
Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me of my last family dinner party.

Those protests and even parades can make a mess of traffic. That's how driving in NYC is.
That's so exciting to throw a dinner party. I know everything will be tasty and lots of fun.
I haven't had a dinner party since the virus hit. I always make something different to serve, especially if they are repeat guests. I plan well in advance.
Nice photo. You all look very happy and well fed.

My menu - Salmon, roasted potatoes with garlic and rosemary, roasted asparagus, and a fruit truffle, I think it's called. It's blueberries and strawberries layered with yogurt. In this case, coconutmilk yogurt. I think there's a sponge cake too. I'll make a mug cake to go with it. I bought all the ingredients this morning after the pool. I'll bake the salmon with spring onions, garlic, and lemon. I'm excited. This is my first dinner party.
It was a fun ride home from church.
You'll be back to hosting dinner parties as soon as this virus lifts.
Thank you. We all were well fed.

Hope that the dinner party will go well :) Sounds like a nice time. Don't really have friends to have a dinner party with here.
