Tropical Storm Cristabol

As of 3:45 pm tropical storm Cristabol has not hit landfall yet. This will happen within the next hour or so. It is headed right for New Orleans, LA which will cause major flooding in a city that is already below sea level. So far we have only gotten gusts of winds here in Mississippi up to 20 mph and a light to misty rain. I expect that to change as the storm comes ashore. I'm just hoping this one doesn't take a ride up the Mississippi River and strengthen. That could cause damage to a lot of states as it travels north. So far the coasts of Mississippi, Alabama and Florida have seen a pounding in wind and rain. Several counties in Florida are under tornado watches and warnings. We have everything picked up around here that we can move so nothing else to do but ride out the storm. Everyone in the path or the outer bands of this storm, please stay safe! Don't discount it just because it is a tropical storm. Photo is of another tropical storm, not Cristabol. Photo Credit: NOAA, public domain © 2020 Karen Gros

There is nothing you can do other than what you have done. Just stay safe and smart.

We are far enough inland to just have a wind and rain impact. I just hope Baton Rouge doesn't flood as our house there is right outside the city limits.

@DianneN The storm surge was bad. I have a cousin on the MS Gulf Coast, I hope he went to his mom's house and also got his boat out of the water!

@LindaOHio We are good here in MS. No flooding in our area. It is nice outside today, still pretty windy.

@kareng I hope you don't get any flooding. It looks like it's going to miss Ohio.

Major flooding on the coastlines due to storm surges and flash flooding on roads. My cousin in Gulfport area got flooded in. The highway closed down and he couldn't get to work last night.

@simone10 The flooding had closed the roads and the highway he takes to get to work.

@kareng Oh no, I hope he is okay? Did the flooding reach his home or just the surrounding area?

Wow! You had it worse than we did and we were closer to the Gulf. These storms can be so unpredictable.

@wolfgirl569 I'm hoping that we don't get heavy rain and thunderstorms and tornadoes! So far we are doing good with a steady but light rain.

I hope that storm doesn't get worse. My area has been having Spring wind storms but that is typical for here. 20 to 35 mph gusts. For sure not fun. I hope you are safe.

The flooding is the major concern and tornadoes that could spawn off of it.

I do hope that the storm doesn't impact on you. It must be a bit of an anxious time waiting to see what direction the storm will take.

As it heads north, it will go through the next parish over from us here in MS. How much it has slowed down at that point will tell how much rain we get. Outer bands will we with us through the night and possibly tomorrow too.
