So.. I've been watching AquaChigger on youtube for the past couple of months. He's been on youtube for maybe twelve years now, and metal detects, magnet fishes, and explores caves and old houses.
A lot of his stuff is centered on the Colonial Period in America. He's pretty knowledgeable about most stuff he finds. He gives history behind places when he can, and also gives his own theories from time to time too.
It's pretty awesome watching him go through the woods, find the remnants of an old barn, house or road and explore it for us.
History isn't everyone's cuppa, but I figured everyone could appreciate his videos...
Metal detecting, treasure, history, coins, river treasure, adventure, nature, animals and MOAR! That is what my channel is about. I enjoy caving, SCUBA divin...

@akalinus I'm not sure, but I suppose it's likely. He tends to find those mason jars in almost all of his videos.

I like the old blue bottles too, but I've also seen him dig up old green medicine bottles that I really love.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Some of those old Mason jars are worth a lot of money. That cave is awesome. I wonder if it was a doctor or pharmaceutical dumping ground.

He recently explored an old quarry which I thought was neat.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Was he looking for arrowheads at the quarry? We used to find them in the desert and mountains.

@akalinus No, that video was a quick one. It was one of his more recent videos.

So do I, and I love this because you can see the traces of people that came before us. I wish he would go to the Great Smoky Mountains and do some metal detecting, but pretty sure it wouldn't be allowed since my ancestors old homes are in a park.

@simone10 Right, and I'd have to email him and offer to pay shipping on one or two things he might find.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It would be interesting to see what he would find there.

I bet that was a lot of fun. He finds all sorts of things and even explains areas where the presence of Native Americans can be seen even today.

@akalinus I am sure they were most likely horse or cow bones. Most graves would be marked with a head and footstone, even if the headstone was not engraved.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We found a lot of horseshoes, farm implements, and even some long bones. I should have called the police to make sure they were not human but did not think of it at the time. I thought they belonged to a horse or cow. The kids decided they were dinosaur bones. They were little then.
I wrote about it and sold it to a local newspaper.

You really can, I love that about youtube.
I need to use it to help me figure out how to re-attach tiles to a shower.

@CarolDM I've started spending the morning hours for some chores, as well as online tasks and writing. The evening hours are dedicated to youtube and reading

This is like "hands on" history in a way, because you get to see the remnants of real people instead of just ideas on a piece of paper.
I also like Townsends for colonial history too.

I like to read about it too, but I also like to experience it, and this is a good way to do that.

I know I definitely do! I do not even look for other youtubers because I just love this guys style.
He has even made videos on what equipment he uses, how he stores his finds... It's an invaluable resource for those who like that kind of stuff.
