My green beans are happy!

Every Summer, it seems that some of my plants do well, while other struggle. This year, my green beans are off to a great start, while my sunflowers are doing well, and my corn is lagging a bit. Do you have something that's doing particularly well this late Spring? I may get more fresh soil and new seeds to give my corn a jump start.

My lettuce are looking great. I should really be picking off leaves to eat.

Are they still at the "pre-harvest" stage?

We've been doing the kitchen scrap gardening. The green onions have been doing great! The mint and celery are thriving. I see that our sugar plum tomato seeds and sunflower seeds are sprouting too.

@TheHorse You literally plant stuff from your kitchen scraps! If I buy green onions, I will use all of it except for the bottom 2 inches . . . I put that bottom 2 inches (root down) in about a half inch of water in a jar and let it sit there by the kitchen windwo . . . it starts growing from the top center almost immediately (you'll see the next day). Done the same with celery and romaine lettuce (the lettuce ultimately did not work out). The mint was leftovers I had in the fridge as well . . . I stuck it in water, roots grew, and I threw t in soil . . . it's thriving!!

My strawberries are doing well. I even ate two this morning. But everything else is being difficult. My reseeded carrots were doing well until whatever dug them up the first time went at them again last night.

What do you think is going after the carrots? Reminds me of my garden at work and the evil ground squirrels a couple of years ago.

It looks like the plant in the picture is alien to me. What kind of green bean is that?

On the package it says "Blue Lake Garden Bean." But to me it just looks like every other green bean I've seen.

I got a variegated hosta some yes ago that never gets big like it should by now. I just learned that when the leaves are variegated it can tolerate more sun so I should look that up and maybe move it out of the shade to a sunnier location to see if it improves. I finally planted my calla lilies last week in a big pot and they don't seem to be doing too good but maybe after the recent reason that will help or maybe the pot is too big or it needs fertilizer?

@TheHorse hostas and calla lilies? The latter is from a warmer climate because we need to bring it in for the winter. I will check later to see from wence they come.

Squash requires pretty consistent watering doesn't it? I'm too much of a "Northerner" to consider okra. I'm feeling a bit better. Still have tummy issues, but the fever is down.

I hope my sunflowers keep prospering. The planters I have them in are pretty small, so they never turn into giants, but I usually do get a few nice flowers.

@TheHorse Yvonne doesnt like them.too big. They eventually get to high and the wind gets them. So this year its the small black sunflower seeds we used. Smaller plants. Just put seeds straight in the ground.if it works it will be great, if not, oh well. Sowed them close together hoping for them to grow like a wee forest.
