Hello, all ! I took Angel for our morning walk, and when we get home I usually give her a treat. Well, I "went to the cupboard and it was bare". So I decided, since I didn't know when I'd go to the store next, that I'd make Angel some treats, as a friend from church had given me a little dog bone recipe book. I used a diet bone recipe called "smaller collar", though really, I didn't have skim milk or some of the other ingredients it called for, I substituted things. I didn't have the right measuring items and such, so I wound up quadrupling the recipe (there was a logic to that, though of course now I can't think of what it was. The first batch is currently in the oven. I'll put some in the container that I keep Angel's treats in, and freeze the rest. I don't know if it's because she smelled the beef and chicken broth or what, but Angel was underfoot most of the time I was making them. I didn't have a large enough bowl for the quadrupled recipe, so as I was kneading the dough, flour was going all over the place. I swept some, then I realized I should wait until I'm completely done with all the bones. The little book my friend gave me with the recipes came with two bone-shaped cutters attached, and I used the larger of the two. 1)Angel's on the "big" side of medium as far as dog sizes, and 2) Making bigger treats will take a little less time. Oi. I'll get to my other projects later...
