Here comes another unpopular (possibly) opinion

I don't want to hear from George Floyd's family anymore. I also don't want to hear from the family of that poor man that died in Atlanta, GA a few nights ago.
I want to hear from psychologists, from people with an intimate knowledge of police protocol. I don't want to hear theories of how this type of stuff can stop, or how a family whose experienced it wants it to stop. I want to hear from people who can give both sides.
There are some really bad cops. There are also cops who follow the rules and who treat every person with the respect they deserve, no matter their crime or current condition.
The media needs to stop showing the police cameras of the crime in Georgia. They need to stop covering the riots and cover MORE of the peaceful demonstrations. Yes, I think the victims families should have a voice, but I think that we need to talk about what is being done and stop theorizing over what should be done.
There ya go, end of discussion...
What say you?

What do I say? I cannot even believe that someone can be killed because suspected to give a counterfeit $20... this is something I would expect from a country like North Korea, or Cuba during Castro! Not the United States. I need to listen to no one, being killed for something like this is out of this world.

A man in Georgia was drunk and in his car outside of a Wendy's fast food restaurant. He was killed while running away. He had the police taser in his hand, but even so, should not have been killed. Earlie, even while inebriated, he realized that he could not drive. He asked the police if he could walk to his sister's house.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Killing is a last resource and you must feel that your life or the life of someone is in danger before "killing". Even if it's a policeman who kills, he would be judged for "murder" here for those two episodes. There was no reason at all to kill.

@LadyDuck None at all. There is a lot of racism in the police forces across America. I think everyone knew this in the back of their minds, but if they do not experience for themselves, they do not think about it.

I agree with you there. It seems that the media is now only there for what they can gain.

Although it is "news" I think the media does not do anyone any favors by sensationalizing bad behavior, and not giving enough coverage to people who are demonstrating in a respectful manner. Also, there are bad apples in every bunch..and showing how the majority of cops handle situations professionally would be better. YOu are right, city admins and lead demonstrators need to start hammering out some kind of agreements. We need to get past this, and we don't need everyone out on the streets demonstrating and spreading Covid. Lets get some dialogue going and something to work with.

Exactly, yet the news wants to drive home these bad officers, further causing some to distrust the police. Reformations need to be made, sure...

Exactly, they are fueling the fire and based off of information that isn't complete. They only share what gives the best ratings.

So tired of hearing just what the media can sensationalize, no matter what the topic is.

Right, and now another man has been shot and the news is covering that... Playing the body cam footage over and over again.

The media loves to concentrate on the negative news. CNN did give fair coverage of the peaceful demonstrations though. I'll give them that.

To be quite honest, I have been limiting the news I watch since the beginning of this virus. One of the anchors I used to love to watch was just constantly talking about the virus and I couldn't stand it anymore.
