Some of you might have noticed that I responded to some comments in my previous discussion, then suddenly, I was 'inactive'.
The reason is the internet connection was out; the landline phone produced the 'busy' sound and we cannot use it to call the internet service provider.
Good thing the electricity was not out too; it would be harder for us to ignore the hotness because we might continuously fan ourselves with hand fans or cartons. I was able to watch the midday news on TV.
Internet came back at 1PM, while we were having our lunch.
That is the problem of the upgrading of our internet proovider. they call it FIBER but the landline cannot be used. we had the first and original modem wherein we can still use the telephone. The upgrade is worse than that.

yes, hija. that was the problem when we were connected with the fiber. disadvantageous because the landline is not operational. before, 'kahit brownout', we can call the electric company. now, we have to wait until the phone had dial tone already

@ridingbet ohh.. I thought it's still the same... They are still using dsl here at home... While me, I have my Globe at home and PLDT Home prepaid WiFis...
They (my SIL and brother)don't want to upgrade to Fibr even if there are lots of agents offering us the new Fibr plans... Well, I no longer connect with them... Maybe they think I will connect again once they have upgraded. My nephew said before when he was still small that I should be the one paying for that internet bill... I did not.. Why? It's not just me who is using it and while I use it too for my job, it is just very minimal since I just view texts, and not images or stream videos, unlike them.. And there are four of them...
So I decided to have my own pocket wifi... and then the two home wifis...

@brokenbee the DSL was better i think. it is the speed that is the upgrade of PLDT but it is not advantageous for us here.

the line of our phone is direct to the modem but yes, when we have power disruption, all lights of the modem go off.

@ridingbet The old landline phone was not Internet dependent and it did not even need power, it was a big mistake to change that system.

the first kind, we had the landline connection even when there is power interruption. during the time we had the typhoon 4 years ago and we had no electricity for about 2 months, our phone line was always on and we can call anybody.

@LadyDuck yes. the phone company informed us though that our subscription (DSL) is already about to be phased-out and they are upgrading the system, that was why we shifted to the latest. if not for the first power interruption we had before and i tried to use the landine, did i knew that the phone and the net go hand in hand

I am currently using PLDT/Smart provided by the company but I only use it for work. I use Globe Internet for my phone. There are lots of offers and I read negative comments about other providers. I applied for a Converge. I already paid the initial payment but still on hold because there is no box or cable near my apartment. I want to cancel because my officemates always complain of slow internet connection to no connection.

it is true. we felt we are cut off from civilization.
but yes, having no internet is good too because we can interact with each other in our homes.

Yes, you are right communication companies may find it difficult to keep promises but you are committed to staying connected to use (MY LOTers) and that’s what matters.

the payment increased but the upgrade is not good at all. yes, it is now easier to be connected but when i am in my room, the signal is slow to none at all.
