I bet most of you never knew these wonderfully interesting facts. I'm also sure you never gave any of these trivial facts any thought either. But like a good joke here are 3 facts I found which will make those around you take notice of your amazing knowledge of useless information, -Have you ever used the word "jiffy?" Like I'll be back in a jiffy. Perhaps not, but the interesting fact is that jiffy really is a specific amount of time, not just a phrase to say when you'll be back shortly. During the late 18th or early 19th centuries, scientist Gilbert Newton Lewis defined a jiffy as one trillionth of a second. That’s really short and definitely a useless time span. -If you want a Big Mac you can find one in almost any capital city in the United States. Actually, you can find one in every capital city except one. Yep, just one holdout and that state is Vermont. Montpelier, Vermont, is the only U.S. capital without a McDonald’s and for that matter a Burger King too! -Pound cake is unique for getting it's name from the ingredients used to make it. That's right, the original recipe of ingredients—butter, eggs, sugar, and flour called for a pound of each item. This simple recipe (which dates back to the 1700s) was so easy to remember. And since not everyone was literate back then, simple to make. Hope you found these interesting obscure facts entertaining. Now, your ready to dazzle your family and guests with some useless information... What's your reaction to these tidbits of info and how many of these facts did you know? Source- Best Life

I knew about the pound cake, I knew about the jiffy, but not about McDonald's, may be because I do not give a damn about McDonald's. I knew also about lobsters.

Oh my such harsh feelings towards Mc D's I thought the pound cake fact was interesting. Funny how foods and other products get their names

@dgobucks226 I do not like fast food in general, so it's not only McD's. I like to know why food gets a specific name, like the carpaccio (finely sliced read meat), that gets its name from the colors used by the painter "Carpaccio". The Caesar salad has nothing to do with Julius Caesar, it was invented by an Italian in Tijuana, Mexico.

@LadyDuck I hardly ever go to a Mc Donald's or most fast food places. Haven't been to one in many years although I did go to a Burger King 3 years ago when traveling and too tired to find anyplace else. Good food examples. You mean Caesar didn't invent the salad with the same name as him?

@dgobucks226 Probably better than today since butter is usually substituted with margarine. The ingredients would be purer.

Yes, some quirky facts for sure. I like pound cake but I wonder how it tasted with one pound of each ingredient back in the 1700's?

A pound of sugar will sure make that cake sweet. They sure had a sweet tooth back then, lol. Sure it took more than a "jiffy" to make
