Why Some of the Websites add Captcha Before We Sign up?

Last month or in April when I was looking forward to know about websites to earn online I tried to register on some of the websites but they were having a very irritated captcha which didn't let me join or maybe I was dumb enough to not answer it properly. Have you ever faced problems in signing up on a website due to captcha?

It is to prevent bots from signing in. I just keep on trying if I fail on the first attempt
