When it's hot and dry..............

Bees on mom's hummer feeder way back in the early 1990s, I took this shot with 35mm film.

Here in the desert hot and dry is normal for our hot springs and summers. By dry I mean the humidity is next to none and it lasts throughout those hot days unless we get lucky and it actually rains. Even when there are clouds producing some rain it is often evaporated by the heat before it reaches the ground but maybe it will heighten the humidity a little. It used to be rare but with the climate changes occurring that might change drastically. On those hot dry days everything wants a little water and if you feed humming birds never get the kind shown in the picture, bees need to land on something to feed whereas hummers are air borne while they feed so get a tube feeder which will prevent bees as well as praying mantises from getting a foot hold. It's 9 minutes after 8am and is 81f with 15% humidity which will burn off as it gets hotter, today we might see 106f, I hope not but you never know this time of year. How humid is it when you get 81f? Do you ever get temps over 106f .... 41.1c? Have you heard about Siberia? They're getting really hot weather.

We have a little wind every day and it's very dry, it's fine as the warmer days are here, so I enjoy the breeze. NO we never get temps over 106 F (41 C), but I experienced temperature over 110 F in Las Vegas and in the California desert.

I would not have thought any part of Switzerland would get those kinds of temperatures but I am surprised your humidity is so low.

It got up to 105f yesterday but the humidity was very low at 3%. I can't imagine what it would have been like with your humidity factor.

Southern CA gets those 3 digit temps, but we haven't hit that high just yet. We have a bit of June Gloom at the moment. Our crazy heat will come eventually . Wait, isn't Siberia supposed to be super cold???

@rebelann Wow. I know Siberia is known to be crazy freezing, but for them to be 100 - that is way hot for that area - what is going on with this planet?

In our summer, meaning right here, we get the occasional day over 40C. Further north, it gets much hotter.

@rebelann The northern parts do for sure. In our winters, local grey nomads head north to the warmer weather.

Never that hot, but high 90's on a rare occasion. On days like those I need to do what the guy in the photo is doing

Yes, temperatures here easily exceed 41C during the summer. The older I get, the harder it is for me to endure, I wish I had enough money to be able to afford to go to the mountains in the summer, the heat is easier to bear there

We had 70% humidity a week or so ago when we were in the 80's. We have reached 102 degrees before, but I think it's been awhile since it's gotten as hot as 106.

As long as it isn't humid when it reaches the triples it's not so hard to take if you stay in the shade or in an air conditioned dwelling.

Sometimes they don't fix A/C units properly and when it gets that cold it only proves they didn't know what they were doing @ScribbledAdNauseum

@rebelann I remember a few years ago we were having temps in the 90's and 100's and I was working for a store with AC issues. They got the AC fixed so well that we had to wear coats, but that didn't last long before it was necessary for them to close down again. That was hard.

I never check temps more or less than 106f or 41.1 c and I find life difficult in desert as I don't like hot days of summer. Does this weather suits you?

We never get above the 90's here. Some days are humid and other days it's not. I love warm to hot days and find humidity good for my complexion. I don't mind any kind of weather except bitter cold days and huge snowstorms.

I would have to look at weather records to see the last time it reached 40°C here in central Alberta. Just into the 30s a few times per summer is usual. Out humidity usually starts at 80% in the morning and drops to 35- 40%. Hubby finds that very dry as he grew up in Manitoba.

To me anything over 30% is too high. My swam cooler doesn't work very well with that much humidity.
