Tree Trimming Courtesy of The Wind, otherwise titled; Pick Up Sticks

Every time the wind blows we get to gather up plenty of branches for the fire pit. After that particular storm we were outside on our deck. A robin was loudly, incessantly chirping. Not singing, angry chirping. We knew it was complaining about something. We searched the tree where it had built its nest. We finally found the nest on the ground, complete with broken egg shells. The robins had built their nest where branches from 2 different trees are layered together. When the trees started waving in the wind the branches must have separated from each other and down went the nest. The next day there was no more chirping. I wonder if they will start a new family. I have been meaning to post this since @JimBo452020 posted
In our garden. The baby Sparrows have been killed By 2 great big Pigeons!! I am astonished by this Never seen this happen before Big Pigeon flew out of tree...

How sad! We know these things happen in nature, but still it's so sad for the parents. I hope those robins will start another family again.

That's so heartbreaking. I have squirrels that have stolen eggs, too, and left empty shells on the ground. I just came in from visiting Doodles and his sister Kuma and frightened a robin away. She must have been grading her eggs. I left as quickly as possible.

@paigea They are cute, but it breaks my heart. Doodles caught a baby bird last year within 1 second. I felt awful for the bird, but he was just doing his thing. It was too late to yell at him, so I thanked him for his gift.

@DianneN I don't know if our cat catches birds. He catches mice, but has not shown us a bird.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. This happened a week or so ago with cardinals in my yard. Nature can be cruel. Maybe they will rebuild.

Aww how sad all the eggs broke. A baby bird was sitting on my doorstep when I went inside tonight. It was so cute I wish i had my phone. I was afraid someone would come out and our dogs would kill the bird so I tried picking it up to move it and it jumped out of my hand. I tried again and it flew into the lilac bushes where I left it alone. I was very happy it could fly so hopefully no cats get it,

Poor robins. Maybe they'll have a chance to build another nest and restart a family.

That is such a shame that their nest has been destroyed. No wonder they were chirping about it.

It made us sad. We had noticed how they built their nest on those branches. We didn't anticipate a problem before the storm.
