Do you spend more or less during the coronavirus period?

spending

I think I spend less. Perhaps I don't go out often and this is why I can consume less. Besides, I want to save more to cope with the uncertain future. During the coronavirus period, I just bought a printer, high speed blender and a laptop. Of course I also buy the groceries and other stuffs but they don't cost much, especially compare to the travel and restaurants spending.

I spend less because I am earning less due to this covid 19 issue. So...thanks very much to a certain country for absolutely f*cking up my finances and such

English is not my native language. Somewhat I feel that you are blaming me. All I can say is Chinese people also suffer the same, probably worse. As your government give money to the people, but we don't get a cent from it.

We spent less for sure. Since March, I have not done any extra shopping besides for food, we have not gone to any restaurants or take out, we have not gone anywhere, I have used less gass which means I am not buying gas for the car as often. And like you, I think the future is uncertain as well . . . better to save what we can!

At least your government gives you money. But we don't get any money at all. We depend on our work. As to the people who are umemployed, they have to count on their savings. But I know some people don't have both and it is really hard.

@youless Well, many of us have mixed feelings about this money, that is another whole long discussion. We are fortunate my husband was able to keep his job . . . so many lost their jobs and are still not working. So many are literally on the edge of having nothing .

Less spending because no malling and eating out, no school allowance for my children because there's no classes. We also decided to be more frugal because there might be a worldwide economic or financial problem in the coming months.

I still pay more for my son's education. You know it may be common that the students have more extra classes here

@louievill The school offered online courses. However, here usually students will also study more in the spare time. Since these schools were also close in the past months, so all the courses became online. And this also charged more.

@youless classes here would be online so no going to school, expenses might come in gadgets like a new laptop that I will buy for my daughter who would be in college.

The spending is definitely much less now than before. First is the dining out which is usual for us. Then the trips to friends and relatives are also expensive not to mention the vacation trips.

Probably today the flights will be less and therefore the price will be higher. The summer holiday is coming but at least this year we don't plan to go to anywhere. Whereas in the past probably I already booked the flights and hotels.

@youless the plane cannot fly with only 30% capacity. It will lose money.

Since we drive so seldom and never eat out, we are spending less.

That is great that you are buying things that you can use.We are spending less because we do not want to go to crowded places.

Without other expense like travel, buying the food is not much since we don't go out to eat.

I think more or less the same as usual, we did not eat out, but I bought more of some products to store... just in case of a second wave.

@youless This is also my opinion and people in some countries are acting like idiots, I have seen places crowded to hear a singer, totally crazy.

We possibly spend about the same as we didn't eat out or go out much before the pandemic.

I haven't spent as much money, during the pandemic. I have a savings account now, which I didn't have before. We don't go out or do anything, we just sit home and watch television.

@youless I did save before, but not really serious about it. Now, I am genuinely stashing away for any hard times ahead.
