What is our real self? How can we be it?

We should beat a path to our souls door.

Our real self is the self that is most real to us, the self that we own, or should be being, the most. It is the self that God would like us to be, the part of himself that he created us to be. It is our part of God in us being us for God. All of our other selves should be helpers to this God-self, the self that we really are, when we really are it. We can be this real self by loving as God loves, from the God part of you in you, this only true real part of you. All the rest are coverings that just pretty you up for your role, or part, in God's play of life. Our real self is our real self, the rest is its trappings. What is our inner self then? Our inner self is not our soul, it is our heart, our inner representative of God, and our soul, in us. We should endeavour then to make our real self, not our ego, nor our mind, not even just our hearts alone, but our higher spiritual self, our soul. If we live from our soul down, rather than from our mind up, all will be well with our lives then. what if they both exist in the same moment? is that the perfection? The achievement of external polish equal to the internet polish?

I would say that if we do have multiple selves, they would all be present, in one way, or another, at all times. It is up to us to acknowledge their presence within us. If we spend all of our money buying polish though, we might think that we are in the army. In some ways, no polish is necessary; we are already, already polished from creation on. Remove the false polish, and we will see what gleams forth beneath that.

@Shiva49 Yes, but should we scurry around looking for a polish to shine ourselves with, or should we allow God's ultimate polish of love to do that for us?

Nicely written. It is true that our self alone exists everything else is just Maya. Actually, our soul resides in our heart, and that soul alone is real, it is not a representative of god but itself is God.

Thanks. I am not so sure about my soul. I talk to both my soul and to God, and they often give me different answers about things. I would say that my soul is not the whole of God, maybe just a particle in him. Is my soul also God, or separate from him? God is the greatness of oneness, conglomerately alive, only as himself. Anything else is only ever part of him, not the whole, but holographically, they can be "all" in a way, of God, too, when they align themselves to God, and his energy of love in them. Is my soul ever completely the same as God, though, in its entirety of that meaning? Like the sand in the seashore, God is the whole shebang. My soul is but one grain of sand in/on God's seashore.

@ADIYOGI I am not saying separate from him, just a part of him, rather than the whole. Otherwise, I am you. Your soul is God, my soul is God, I am you, you am I. I do not see it like that. I have no concept that I am God. I have no power like I assume that he would have. Sure, God created me, but surely, I didn't create him. God created me from himself, so he is in me, but I am not the creator of myself. That's just how I see it, though. You might be right. I cannot see the point of anything, if it is just a sham appearance here, and if we are all God, just pulling the different strings on different puppets down here being us.

"If we live from our soul down, rather than from our mind up, all will be well with our lives then" that says it all. When we shed the adds on, then we are our original self. When we speak from our heart, the message gets across loud and clear. However, we tend to have as our leaders those who are born actors devoid of wisdom. And that behavior percolates down to the common folks to be accepted as the norm. The basics are clear enough but are we ready to retrace our false steps? siva

Very well elucidated, siva. There is not much that I could add to that.

There is no difference. Our real self is our soul. That's what I am trying to say here. We have this Earthly physical self, and our mind-self, and our ego-self, but our real self is our soul.

@Nakitakona Yes, some people say that we are not just humans trying to live a spiritual life, we are really spiritual beings/souls living a human life.
