Going to make my neighbors a tray of food

As I wrote about earlier one of the men in the next building over died from a massive heart attack this morning. He left behind a wife, an autistic son, a daughter, some in-laws. . . and that's just what I know about. I wasn't close with them. I decided to make them some food that they can have now or freeze for future use. I was thinking about lasagna but didn't know if anyone was lactose-intolerant. Same with my amazing macaroni and cheese. I settled on linguine with homemade meatballs. I already have all of the ingredients to make that on hand. That will be my project for tomorrow evening. I don't have any foil pans so I'll have to use one of my ceramic dishes, mark the bottom, and hope it gets back to me eventually. If not, well then I'll just buy a replacement. I have more than I need these days since there's just 1 person living here. I was considering a chopped or Italian salad since I know many people bring casseroles but I don't know if they like or even eat vegetables. Pasta and meatballs seems like a safer choice. What would you make for a family in need of an easy meal?

As you said, no everyone can eat milk-products(cheese) and some don't eat vegetables(salads). So pasta and meatballs is a very good choice, almost everyone loves pasta and meat. Children are crazy about it!

That is so sweet of you. I, too, think anything you'd take they'd be pleased to get. It's a kind, thoughtful gesture. Your pasta and meatballs sound like a good choice. There do seem to be more and more people who don't or can't do dairy. That poor family. ..such a sudden loss. They're probably in total shock.

I think your choice is good. A potato dish would also be good. Using what you have on hand is well planned, though. It sounds as if there will be many mouths to feed and your food will be appreciated.

That's a very thoughtful and kind thing to do. Pasta is always a good meal and makes good leftovers.
