One week of vacation and two weeks of quarantine

My country still encourages us to avoid international travel if it isn't absolutely neccesary. In most cases people have to spend two weeks in quarantine after their vacation. There are only 3 exceptions: Norway, Iceland and Germany (no large cities) If we choose to visit any other country or a large city in Germany we have to spend two weeks in quarantine when we get back. Most Danes have 3 weeks of summer vacation, and it is possible to spend one week abroad and two weeks in quarantine. We are allowed to travel for more than one week, but people might lose their jobs if they do that because they will not be able to go back to work when they return to Denmark. My friend's brother and his family are going to France. His wife is French and they want to visit her family. They have to spend two weeks in quarantine when they get back. It is not easy with 3 small children, but they really want to travel, so they are willing to accept the fact that they can't leave their home for two weeks when they get back. I love travelling and I miss it, but I am not going to travel at the moment. Would you travel one week and spend two weeks in quarantine when you get back? Or would you prefer to wait?

I would prefer to wait until the virus is gone but I think it will be too long to wait. Well, let's just see.

I also prefer to wait. Some people are very impatient and they want to travel right now, but it isn't over yet and I don't think that it is a good time to travel.

We only have to quarantine if we visit certain countries, France and Germany are not in the list, so we should be fine traveling there. I would renounce should I had to quarantine.

We can visit France, but not without quarantine. Most places in Germany are okay, we just have to stay away from from the largest cities if we want to avoid quarantine.

@LadyDuck Our list of quarantine-free countries is very extremely short (3 countries) I am glad I didn't plan any trips this year.

I prefer to wait. Two weeks in quarantine would be far too boring. I could probably plan my job so that no one would notice, but I'm still waiting with the rest of Europe and staying in the north. I'm probably going to Finland in August, right now most of Finland is about as safe Northern Norway = hardly any new infections. So they might suddenly decide they don't want us over. The main problem with getting there is of course that's Sweden is between Norway and Finland. Because of some strange logic we can drive through Sweden without quarantine but not land in Arlanda and go on to Finland.

Yes, Sweden is a problem. It is strange that they don't have the same rules about driving through Sweden and flying. That doesn't really make sense. Many Danes usually visit Sweden, but this year it is not possible to do it without quarantine, and it doesn't matter if we drive, sail or fly. We don't accept tourists from Sweden at the moment, but Danes are allowed to travel to Sweden if they spend two weeks in quarantine when they get back. Sweden is angry at us because they can't visit.

I had to travel to escape our condo in Florida for our house up north. We self quarantined the second we arrived. We refuse to travel anywhere until this virus is long gone.

I don't plan on travelling either. I love travelling, but at the moment it is not a good time to travel. I feel much safer at home.

@Porcospino Same with us. Before the virus, it was terrorism that stopped us from finishing our bucket list. I'd rather be safe now, for sure.

Currently its not good to travel anywhere especially if they have childs. Its very tough time going on and its very dangerous diseases so no need to so bravery at this time. Qurentine is second thing but health is first important so no need to put it in risk. Here international travel not allowed.

I agree. It is risky to travel at the moment. My friend's family is doing it anyway because they want to visit their relatives in France, but personally I think that I would wait. At the moment it is not easy to have family members from another country because we can't just travel from country to country like we are used to. Here they allow international travel, but they advice people to wait if they can.

@Porcospino If there is no urgency then its better to stay at home because this disease is different then others. I wish it not happen but by mistake they take this disease there or they take it to home while back then many people have to suffer. Recently those people who said nothing will happen and go outside much facing more problem now..

I also prefer to wait. A road trip sounds nice. I might visit some places in my own country this year, but we haven't planned anything yet.

I'd prefer to wait but if I was visiting close family I would probably make an exception. In my book, it's just too risky,

I also think it is risky. I understand that people who have close family members choose to travel, but I wouldn't plan other kinds of trips. I love travelling, but at the moment it isn't the right time.
