Posting to Austria soon

I wrote recently about making a display case for a little friend in Austria. Apart from installing a blue velvet lining (just to the bottom- we’re not clever enough to line the whole thing), it’s now finished. The wood looks a bit ‘warmer’ than it does in the photo. We’ll fill it with small items and post it off soon. Hopefully, it will get there for Christmas. I’m thrilled to bits with it; Vince keeps inspecting it minutely looking for flaws. I’ll hit him on the head with it if he’s not careful. (That’s a joke.)

Since it's a gift he must want it better than perfect! By the way, I've a smaller box, my Grandfather made me that the little iron holding it together in the back, with 2 tiny prints popped out if it's hole. I've put too much super clue so plugged up little holes so prong won't go in dried out glue won't disappear with nail polish remover... got any tips to remove dry super glue?

The only thing Vince could suggest was ethyl methyl ketone but he said that's much the same as nail polish remover. What a shame.

If you want to put the prongs back in, you might be able to drill out the holes with a very small drill.

@JudyEv Hmm, no equipment for drilling. No other chemical would remove glue?

We were pleased with it. Finding small catches and hinges was the hardest part.

It turned out very beautiful Judy! I love it. And for the record, you should go ahead and hit Vince on the head with it. Just because.

@JudyEv That's true, you don't want to break that box over his hard head! Maybe use a coconut instead! haha

THAT is so beautiful. Your friend is lucky. (Hope the postage/delivery cost is not going to kill you .)

Luckily the only cost so far is the knob and hinges which is good.

@YrNemo We've done that too but this time it is something we've made ourselves so we need to post it. I'll let you know how much it costs.

@JudyEv I have stopped sending friends things direct from my place. After calculations, I have found out that it is cheaper to buy things online (oh well, most of the time anyway), and deliver those to friends. Do please let me know how expensive it is sendinh that box to Austria.

Thanks. We're pretty pleased with it. It's more difficult perhaps than you'd imagine to get it all nice and square, etc.
