Neighbor Almost Had a Heat Stroke

Received a call just now from my neighbor's daughter. The same neighbor I took the peach cobbler to recently. He had been on his lawnmower and got overheated. He called his daughter and said he would rest since he overdid it on the mower. Then she couldn't reach him on his phone. She asked if I could go check on him. Of course I said. I walked over and he was sitting in his garage drinking water. Thankfully he seemed ok. I told him it was much too hot (temperature feels like 93 F) to be cutting his grass. He agreed and said he would cool down before he finished. I called the daughter back and she was so relieved to hear he was ok. Thank goodness for phones and neighbors, right!

Thank God you were there to go check on him! You wouldn't believe how many countless times I've overdid it in the summer heat, even with me taking lots of breaks and drinking lots of water. Sometimes it just becomes unbearable.

Ouh! That's bad. We need to stay away from the sun for now. Is your neighbor doing okay now?

People need to be more careful. Short grass is really not more important than someone's health. I hope everybody does their chores early during these heat waves. I'm on fluid restriction, I can't overdo it on gulping down water because I have a sodium issue. So I just try to be careful in other ways and not try to work in the heat. I'm glad your neighbor is better now.

Taking in fluids is important when you're in the hot sun. I always bring Gatorade when hike or to the pool.

I joined a challenge with a few people this week. 8 cups of water a day for 30 days. I hate drinking water, so maybe the blessed virgin Mary is interceding that I need the water.

I'm glad to hear that your neighbor was okay. He should take precautions if living alone to let his daughter know when he is out doing stuff like that and to check back in when finished! Would ease her mind at least!

I am so glad that you checked on your neighbor and he seems to be okay. Heat strokes are very dangerous, I had one once and do NOT want another one ever again,

You are such a good neighbor. Our neighbor and his son cut our grass now and send us a bill each month. My husband is too old and has asthma and allergies....he doesn't need to be out in the sun cutting grass.
