Synopsis: Paul Davis forgets things. Why he walked into a room. Who he spoke to, and what they said. What he promised his wife he'd do. Sometimes it's too much and the panic takes hold. He wasn't always like this. Eight months ago Paul was attacked - left for dead after seeing something he shouldn't have - and he has been piecing his life back together ever since. During the day, therapy helps. But at night he hears noises that no one else can. That nobody believes. Sometimes he thinks someone is in the house. Other times the sounds are far stranger. Either he's losing his mind - or someone wants him to think he is. Or maybe something even darker is waiting downstairs. ~~~~ Another awesome thriller by Linwood Barclay. I don't understand how that man's mind works. This story had the reader and characters running in circles. Just when you had it figured out something changed, then something changed again. And the hero of the story is THE most unlikely person of all. Linwood Barclay pieced together an amazing and exciting thriller which kept me up late every night. And, gotta add, I love those short chapters. He leaves no stone unturned. All the pieces fit together as crazy as the story is. His writing is magical. Did it leave me disturbed? Sometimes. In fact it's one of the reasons it kept me up late. I couldn't put the book down until the fear factor of the moment had waned. Suspense-filled, exciting, thrilling, twisted and tense. A must read for Thriller lovers. I gave this book 5 stars out of 5.

He writes some amazing thrillers. Just can't believe how he managed to turn all those twists and turns into a neat but messy bow in the end.

@just4him Makes me wonder whether he plotted it all out or whether he just started writing and let the story take him where it wanted to go. I would think with all those twists and turns he would have had to plot it out.

@patgalca It takes a good imagination and a good writer to do that.

@Adie04 We have had lots of author events over the years. I have met quite a few celebrated Canadian authors. Linwood Barclay just "liked" two of my tweets this week.

This is the 8th book of his I've read. I still have "Fear The Worst" and "The Twenty-Three" on my shelf to read.

I am sure it is out there. Linwood Barclay is a best selling author. He is a former columnist for the Toronto Star who took to writing thrillers in his retirement... and his has written quite a few. I have two more on my TBR shelf.
