The oldies were queueing in line
awaiting the opening time
it was their special hour
and they felt very sour
when a youngster pushed in - what a swine!
His action caused quite an uproar
they shouted at him and they swore
then they ganged up on him
but - "How will you get in
if you won't let me unlock the store?"
Based on a real news item. I don't know if they have exclusive times for older people to shop where you live, but they do here in the UK.

We do have special hours for what they have termed "those at risk." Seniors are included in that grouping. There are still many people not at risk who will shop at that hour. I have heard from others that it is still crowded during that time.

@jaboUK I have only been inside a store, mask on, 4 times since March. I don't like going shopping anymore.

@ElusiveButterfly I only go when I have to, perhaps once a fortnight.

They did have earlier days certain days each week some months ago but I'm not sure whether they still do.
Funny story but good limerick as always. Good to see you, Janet, if only for a moment.

@MarshaMusselman I might stick around this time - I find that the longer I stay away the harder it becomes to come back.

@jaboUK it will be nice to see you around the place more. I still come and go but I've been here a lot more recently than at other times mostly because we have extremely hot temps most days and can't work as long.
I'm not here enough to reach out monthly but that's fine too.

That was very clever! We do have senior hours here, but we've only gone then once. Now we just wear masks whenever we do have to go, sanitize our hands, and all the other things to try to stay well.

@1creekgirl The restaurants and pubs opened last weekend but I'm not venturing into any of them just yet. I don't fancy going into an enclosed space with lots of strangers.

@jaboUK Are any restaurants open there yet? A few of ours are, but we're not ready to take that chance just yet. We go through drive throughs sometimes, but still being very careful.

The last two times I have been shopping it has very much returned to normal. No queuing straight in to the shop. No special senior shopping hours here Janet.

@jaboUK No, they did have early opening for keyworkers early morning. We went out shopping to Marks and Spencers for the little old lady we look after. She is in her upper 80's and has not been out until last week when we took her shopping for the first time since March. M&S were good as it was a remote shop and hardly anyone there. We used to get her three weeks shopping at a time so we did not have to go out too often. I hope you are keeping well Janet.
