Cloudy and Rainy Day!

Today has been another washout as far as the weather is concerned. I woke up early and intended to make coffee, grab a cup and get on my laptop and get some things done. However, when I turned around from making coffee, I noticed that my mom was sitting on the sofa in the den. She was sound asleep. I asked her why she wasn't in bed and she said she couldn't get comfortable. It has to be more comfortable laying down than sleeping sitting down! To top it off the weather forecast had the rain falling in the morning so no plans here to do much. The rain hit around 9 am and lasted for a couple of hours. It was a heavy downfall. Once it cleared up, I made a run for the post office and wouldn't you know...it started raining again! This one had some close lightning and more heavy rain. It only lasted for about 30 minutes. If I would have only waited a few minutes before going to town! Oh well! I'm just doing some laundry today and working on notifications. Nothing exciting. I had my little outing to the post office to mail Ebay package and ran into the store for a couple of things. They were still out of bread! I'm going to possibly make a homemade loaf later today. The temperature isn't blazing hot today so it will be a good day for that. Are you seeing a bread shortage in your area or some other type of food? Photo Credit: Pixabay © 2020 Karen Gros

No shortages here except paper products, but I have bought many in the past, so we are good for now. Wish we had more rain.

I have found that I sleep much better sitting up too than I do laying down. I just toss and turn a lot when I'm sleeping in the bed. I mean, I do sleep good in the bed, I just seem to sleep more comfortably when I'm sitting. But I still sleep in my bed every night anyway. There doesn't seem to be a bread shortage here. Our bread aisle was pretty well stocked when I was at the store yesterday.

Your state shot back up there with new cases. Are they talking about another lockdown?

@moffittjc Yep same here. My granddaughter's school gave them the option of home school for the first semester and they took that. It just sucks that they have already paid tuition and now will be teaching from home. This may be a turning point for them to home school from here out.

@kareng Not only are they NOT talking about another lockdown, they're ordering all the kids to go back to school in a month. I can't believe they're acting so stupidly and irrationally right now when our cases are spiking.

I hope your mom can get comfortable so she can get a good nites rest. Yes, the last time I was at Costco they didn't have the frozen veggies I usually buy. I'm hoping they'll be back in stock by next week.

@rebelann Online has really been hit or miss for me. I started ordering weekly so I can patch things together I need for a meal.

I have seen many older people prefer to sleep sitting up. Stop being greedy with the rain

I wondered if she forgot where her bedroom was. Before the trip she forgot where the bathroom was every day. Since we have been back, not so much. Weird!! Tomorrow is supposed to bring us sunshine and I'll be very happy. It is so soggy out.

@kareng Not to scare you as dad slept in a chair and mom on the couch for a few years. But towards the end dad would sometimes swear the bed was going to kill him even when I had it raised so he was sitting up. I think part of that was having slept sitting up for so long before.

I'm sorry they're out of bread there. I don't eat bread, so I never go down that aisle. I'm sorry you got caught in the rain.

My hubby has to have it. I'm sure that was one of his downfalls leading to diabetes!

It's still hard to get canned soup anywhere. No rain for quite some time. Temps around 94 today. Stay safe and healthy!

I think I got a couple of cans just to have on hand since the virus hit. We eat it in the winter but not usually in the summer. Back to hibernation here. Looks like we are all going back to lockdown or close to it.

@LindaOHio It'd the new normal way of life. May as well get used to it. Too many still think the virus is a hoax. They refuse to wear a mask in public and will do what they want.

No bread shortage, I noticed a shortage of the special soap that contains anti bacterial.

I still am not finding wheat to grind into bread. I did find wheat flour all ready to go at the store, though. I made bread yesterday. You are caring for your Mom? I lived with my Mom for a while before a sister took over.

Yes I am. She moved in last year at the beginning of June after a hospital stay. I can't believe it has been a year already.

@sallypup Yep, we were at that point from the very beginning. She was not very lucid when she came here. My brother never had her tested for dementia or took her to the doctor. She wasn't even on all the medication she should have been on. I do realize that there is only so much I can do.

@kareng I used to be a paid senior helper. Then Mom wanted to live with us. I found out that she was not my Mom any more. Dementia had taken her away and left me a client. Sometimes she was lucid enough to turn on me. Most days she turned on me just cause. Other times she was a sweet kid. I admire anyone who can care for their own.

It was our first hot and humid day here, and we just had a drizzle. So far, I haven't had any problem buying bread. I just can't get a rib roast or Lysol.

Lysol is another one that is never in stock anywhere around here. I think I may have to give making my own hand sanitizer soon. That is also out of stock everywhere. I hate seeing all the grocery items and meat out of stock. It is sad grocery shopping. I've been doing grocery pick up and you don't get half of what you order due to out of stock. I had to go into the store when I lost my debit card and i was shocked by all the empty spaces. It's crazy!

@kareng I order from Instacart. The shopper took a photo of empty shelves to show me that there was no alternative for any antibacterial products. Insane!

the shortage that is getting us right now is kind of silly, but because of the issues tomatoes are scarce right now.

You should have planted some! That was one of the main reasons I put in a garden. Just to be safe and have some vegetables on hand.
