Sleeping while standing

Last night i read an article which tells us about some animals that able to sleep while stand. And on of it is horse.
They sleep while stand as a defence system when a predator comes, they can move and escape quickly in wild life. Lying down position takes more time to escape and standing one. 
But they can sleep while lying down when they feel no threat and comfy. It is an alternate position.

I did not know that fact about horses since my late grandmother had a horse that took care of her in her farmland in interior of Panama.

@nawala123 Horse riding in some areas in the interior of Panama is the only way to get around the farmlands next to walking on dirt roads.

In the stable some horses sleep standing while some are lying on the ground.
