Quibi review

Recently, I signed up for a free trial of "Quibi". What is Quibi? you ask. Well, I'm happy you asked. Quibi is an app that features shows that are specially formatted for viewing on a cell phone. What's more, instead of the standard 30 minutes to an hour... these are 10 minutes. To be honest, I'm a little worried about what it's doing to people's attention spans. But, nonetheless I signed up, after being instigated by an ad for the Quibi show "Dummy". It's about a woman who finds her boyfriend's.... adult..... doll. The woman is shocked to discover that the doll has come to life - and the two go off on adventures together. Alright, it doesn't have as many R rated scenes as you might think given the subject, but it is certainly for adults only. While it was total puff it was, still entertaining. The second series I watched was "Agua Donkeys". Two pool cleaners have off beat adventures while trying to impress the same girl. It actually kept my attention, as well. The third thing I watched on Quibi was called "Dangerous Game" and I enjoyed it a lot as well. A man desperate to save his family agrees to play a twisted "game" where he is hunted like a game animal. If he makes it out alive, he will get his family back and $$ .... but he will have to outsmart the other players. This one had lots of twists and turns... and in a different format would have been a fine movie. But by about here, I was starting to run out of things that got my attention on there... Other than "Daily Chill" a different special everyday similar to a guided meditation Photo: Pixabay Sci Fi search results - User DarkWorkX

I liked what I watched on there, but didn't find too much else to hold my interest

I have a big screen TV with cable, Netflix, Prime, etc. I would never watch TV on my phone or without my husband.

I'm happy that you're so blessed, Dianne. Such a beacon of all things culture too. Sometimes I wonder why you bother with us common folks here

That would be too small a screen for me to watch a movie. Even a short one.

it's a bit annoying. I'm not sure how most people do it - I liked it for setting it on my nightstand and watching as I was falling asleep :-)

That is interesting but I fear watching shows on my phone. It can be quite addictive considering you have your phone everywhere

This is a coincidence. Just the other day, I listened to an episode of Suspense (An old radio show that was like the Twilight Zone) that was based on The Most Dangerous Game. The one about the adult doll sounds very interesting. And it's like the Twilight Zone where the mannequin...which was more of a girlequin...came to life. So it sounds like they have a possibility of creating a good platform but I think I would be like you and not subscribe once the free trial is over.

@FayeHazel Yeah, it started out as a short story and has been done dozens of times. I like the idea of the adult doll being a comedy---I would just want more R-rated scenes.

@xander6464 I had no idea. A great story though, I can see why it's been done a lot. Lol. The adult doll one? Yeah.... the R rated bits were more along the lines of gross ... and you know me, I'm fairly open minded

Oh that's cool! Here I thought the Quibi offering - was a new idea. Seems like it was inspired by something much older. The adult doll one was awesome. Actually the doll was mouthy and catty - and I think it would have had a lot of promise as a suspense or thriller even. As it is, it was more of a comedy. Still captivating.
