Trump supposedly mentioned selling Puerto Rico

The former acting DHS secretary, Elaine Duke, has stated that Trump mentioned selling the American territory of Puerto Rico in the aftermath of 2017's Hurricane Maria which demolished the island. 3000+ people were killed and the infrastructure was destroyed.
The residents of Puerto Rico are American citizens. There are periodic votes among the residents to determine if the territory should become the 51st American state. Trump treated them with contempt in the aftermath of the hurricane--arguing with mayors and the governor, throwing rolls of paper towels at the citizens, and refusing to provide additional financial support. The whole thing was a disgrace.
Suggesting selling the island, though, is absolutely outrageous in my opinion. Duke said that Trump never brought up the idea again. Thank goodness. That's even worse than trying to buy Greenland.

I am sorry but what I think is that your president is a disgrace, not only some of the things he does. I hope that the Americans are wise enough to fight with their votes so that he is not reelected.

He may want to hold on to it, given that the SCOTUS ruled that half of Oklahoma is Cherokee property. The US may be down to 49 states soon.
