I don't love Dollar Tree that much!!!

So, I belong to a Dollar Tree group on Facebook. I just look at it to see if there are new neat things people are talking about. One lady was posting how she didn't need anything, but when in to "look" and came out 52 dollars later! OK, now I admit there are times I went in looking for one thing and came out with 5 or 6...yesterday was kind of like that, but I don't think I would spend 52 dollars there on a whim. I mean you could spend that if you were throwing a party or something..but not just on general stuff. I wonder if she is a hoarder? Would you ever spend that much in a Dollar Store on a whim?

Most the stuff there is kind of junky and even for $1 I don’t want it. I did get to air filled balloons there for my engagement party but that was all. I used to get activity books there for my kids when they were little and some times party decorations if I saw a cute theme. Most the things are lower priced at Walmart like the food and shampoo etc. One thing I do get there every year is a weekly planner.

I think it is worth a dollar, but not much more. I know you can buy laundry detergent there which is pretty cheap but I have an HE machine there, and they don't sell that. Their batteries aren't too bad. I bought a few button batteries there for a dollar when they wanted much more anywhere else.

I will admit that when I worked for dollar general, I used to spend quite a bit there. Wasted my money then. I can understand spending that much if you know you're going to use it, but otherwise it is a waste.

I think I would spend it on a few better quality items. Their stuff for the most part is good for the price, but not everything fits that description.

Interesting. Your post reminds me that I have not been in the Dollar Tree store in over a month. Due to Virus fears I have stopped just going to a store for a browsing session. I haven't missed the place.

@sallypup I like to buy lasers pointers for the kitty. They cost a buck there, and are at least 3 at DG. They used to come with extra batteries, but lately the last few haven't.

I would go more if one were closer. I have to be in the area doing something else to go. There is one plaza I like in Fredericksburg. It is pretty "close" to here, they have Dollar Tree, Ollies Outlet and Aldi all in the same place. I usually try to shop all of them I can, and see where I can get what I want for the least.

@snowy22315 The main thing that I bought at the Dollar Tree was toothpaste and freezer bags. I bought freezer bags at Safeway and found the quality much better.

I spent a lot at a time when I used to buy my students gifts for making "Super Stars of the Week". I also gave out gifts for good behavior, good manners, 100's on tests, neatest desk, sharing, etc. I loaded up on gifts once a month, so spent plenty. I only buy cocktail napkins and plates and sometimes gift bags now, although I haven't been in the one here since our return from Florida.

@snowy22315 I once brought the grandkids there when they were little and told them they could each pick out 10 toys. My grandson only found 3 he liked and my granddaughter found about 30.

That sounds like a lot considering everything is a buck. She must have had a cart full of stuff. I wonder if she'll use it all or if as you said, she's a hoarder.

It's hard to say. My ex has hoarding tendencies, and he usually tells himself he is buying things to give to other people, but when the time comes..he forgets where he put it..stuff like that.

@just4him If you saw my walk in that is what you would think, but the rest of the house if pretty manageable. Lots of places to walk, and open space.

@snowy22315 I was borderline hoarder, but with my last several moves, I've needed to downsize a lot. My closets are still full and I need to go through them again and declutter. I don't see that happening soon though.

@Butterfingers Maybe, but they mostly sell cheap things there, I don't think you would get much on a re sale.

I've gone to Dollar Tree and come out with maybe $30 worth of goodies. I can easily fill a cart but I don't go very often and usually stock up when I do go. I find it easy to spend money when I'm buying lots of cards, gift bags etc.

Yes, but those are more like planned purchases. I doubt if there were no special events you would just "load up" for the heck of it.
