I Am Going Book Crazy

Goodness, I am stumbling across all these new authors. I am going out of my way to enter giveaways to try and get their books for free, and searching for older books at the used book store. I'm chatting with them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I added a whole slew of "favourite" authors and printed out their whole catalogues of books so I could check them off as I read them. As if keeping a spreadsheet of books read, books by author, and number of books read by each author isn't enough. (I'm a little OCD). I send my husband to the drug store to pick up my medication because I know I will buy more than just my medicine. Yesterday I did have to buy milk so that was okay, but I did find myself staring at the books for about 15 minutes so tempted by so many of them. But knowing I have probably 200 unread books in my house, and money is questionable with COVID having messed up my husband's job, I am resisting the urge to buy.... sometimes. That and I have recently won 4 or 5 books that I am waiting on in the mail (which is slowed down by COVID). But I just finished a book that's part of a series and I am going to go looking for the other book in the series. However, sometimes I get distracted by the books I have here and forget about getting the other in the series. Maybe I can do that with this latest one. Somebody needs to give me a good shake. But hey, my husband is out on the golf course as often as possible so who can blame me? I just love books!!!!

@Shavkat Yes, following authors on Facebook and some authors have reading group pages. They hold giveaways. Bookreads also does giveaways. There are so many different ways to enter to win free books.

I have 3 book shelves with books I have already read, had to get rid of a box full. Just don't have the room to store books I read. And then one big book shelf in the basement with books I haven't read. I so want a home with a library/office.

I always do reviews here and on Goodreads which I know they appreciate. But I'm pretty sure they appreciate the money spent to buy as opposed to lending from the library. I don't usually lend from the library because I feel pressure to finish that book in a certain amount of time.

@patgalca I gave up my library card for that reason. I just can't read that fast. That's good you put reviews on Goodreads. Oh, you said Bookreads. I haven't heard of that one.

@just4him Did I say Bookreads... I meant Goodreads. I'll have to edit that.

I don't know what that is. I won't do e-books. I only did that once because it was the last in a series and was not available in print.

I have a bad habit of buying books I already have. I carry some lists of books with me, but obviously, not all of the ones I'm following. Did it again Tuesday, but that was a free book so not so bad.

When I was sorting through my books that I haven't read to check off books on the lists I printed out, I found two books on the shelf that I already read, which means I had another copy. That's why I keep the spreadsheet so I can see whether I've read a book before I buy it and it is easier to find with the "Books by Author" spreadsheet. Just found out I'm getting another inheritance payment so I may treat myself after all.
