Daisy and The Cicada

I just went out on our balcony and Daisy wanted to go too. As soon as we walked out on the balcony, there was a cicada laying on it's back. When Daisy sniffed it, it started moving its legs and Daisy snapped it so quick.
She immediately hid under one of the chairs on the balcony. I was trying to get her out and the whole time she had it in her mouth. I was finally able to drag her out and I had to fight with her to open her mouth. Once her mouth was open, I was able to get the poor thing out of her mouth. She started to go after it again and I touched it and it flew away.
After Daisy getting sick a couple of days ago, I could just imagine how she would feel after eating the cicada. I'm glad I was able to free it. Whew! So, how is your Sunday so far? Anything planned for today? We will be doing house cleaning and I'm not sure what after that. I may go riding in my brothers new car

Nothing planned here for today. It's going to be 95 and humid. Going to stay in the AC. I'm glad Daisy didn't eat the cicada. Yuck!

It's been that hot here too, along with the humidity. I haven't even gone out to ride in my brother's new car yet. If I didn't have to climb so many stairs to get back in our apartment, I would probably go. But with the humidity making it hard to breathe and I have asthma, I'm not attempting it right now.

@LindaOHio That's what I've been doing. I do have to go to the dentist Thursday, so I will be able to ride in my brother's car then.

@simone10 My husband has asthma too. Best to stay inside with the AC. Stay safe and healthy!

I'm surprised that Daisy didn't learn her lesson after getting sick last time. It's a good thing you were able to get the bug out of her mouth.

@moffittjc Who knows? I've often wondered that myself. Some of the things they put in their mouths couldn't taste good. It's almost like a game with her sometimes.

@simone10 I wonder why she feels the need to try and eat those things?

It sounds like Daisy really wanted it and you did not want her to have it so so glad it flew away when you got it away from here and she could not get it again. Now, I understand your concern so she would not get sick again. I sat on the porch in the morning and got sun and then came in and worked on the computer and would come out and visit with my Sophie.

@DocAndersen They sure can be stubborn, can't they? I'm just glad Daisy has a small mouth.

That can be difficult. Good you managed to keep that cicada free and not a lunch of daisy

I have to watch Roscoe and the toads. We get little toads in our back fenced in area and he likes to chance them but I discourage it!! I can't imagine toads are good eats lol

Those things are so ugly yet so beautiful at the same time, especially their wings. That's a tale he can tell his Locust (what we call them here) friends.

Their wings really are beautiful. The colors are almost transparent until the light or sun shines on them the right way. We call them locusts here too. I was afraid if I said locusts, no one would know what I was talking about. I'm glad I wasn't the only one.
