Weird Instacart Order

I have had some mistakes on my Instacart orders in the past but the one I had Thursday takes the biscuit. I ordered a pound of fresh cherries, they were on sale for $3.99 a pound. If you look at the picture this is what I received. A jar of maraschino cherries, WHAT!!!!!!! I also got lemon tea which is sweetened instead of unsweetened ice tea and he told me he couldn't give me the sliced Italian bread I wanted it wasn't available. My swiss cheese was also a 1/3 of a pound rather than a half. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. I ended up going to the store myself to get the cherries and guess what they did have sliced Italian bread. I am almost at the point of wanting to do my own shopping, it is just so frustrating. Instacart credited me for the errors but still, I ordered what I wanted.

I had a few issues like that when I was doing the curb pick up at the grocery store for my list, but they always called and confirmed with me if I wanted a substitute. That was why I stopped because I found that I still had to go back to get what we needed.

He didn’t ask me and honestly neither was a legit substitute. He was just a bad shopper I’m afraid

That's too bad. I've been using it since we returned from Florida and haven't had one issue. Could be you had a stupid shopper.

You got a fresh jar of maraschino cherries . I've heard of all kinds of issues about these services since March . . . and I had been waiting til all the kinks were worked out. But by now, I'm just fine with going to the stores myself . . . if they don't have something, I can quickly get to another store to take care of that.

@BelleStarr That's great! Although it doesn't feel "different" here, the numbers tell a different story . . . it's very, very high here .

@BelleStarr Yes, it is very annoying. My brother and I have a system. He unpacks the groceries and I check the items off the list. That way we know if anything is missing or different. There is a grocery store here, Meijers, that we use most of the time, and they are pretty good about getting everything right.

This is exactly why I have not used online grocery ordering yet. I can't trust the employees at these stores to get it right.

I'm glad they credited you for the errors. I had one order with Instacart. It was okay, but I'll do my own shopping. I know when I go, I get what I want and not have to worry about getting it wrong.

Yes I understand that but I want to make sure I don't get exposed since I am needed to care for Al. For myself, I am healthy and I don't think I would have an issue if I was exposed.

I am sorry they got your order so mixed up, that is the reason why I don't want to order from those places. I like to get my stuff in person that way I get exactly what I want. I can't understand how they could mess the cherries order up, seems like they don't pay attention.

Yes that one still has me baffled, it makes no sense. I use them trying to stay safe but it does mean putting up with quite a bit.

That is one of the reasons why I prefer to shop in store so that I can see what I am getting especially fresh produce and meat. I wear a mask and take a spray bottle of thieves oil to wipe the cart off. I also have rubbed down with the oil. And watching those store shoppers in the store make me less want to have someone to do my shopping.

Wow! It sounds like a combination of laziness on the shopper's part and maybe on the part of the store. I could se where maybe the cherries weren't out at the time he shopped, but still... I wonder if Instacart shoppers can ask for rainchecks on behalf of customers?

If they don't have exactly what you ordered shouldn't they contact you and ask if you want something in its place instead of giving what you didn't order?
