It Was One Of Those Days

I had errands to do today. Normally on a warm day like today, I would stay home but I had to go to Fed Ex to make a return. I went to where I thought the Fed Ex store was and oops it was UPS. But Bertuccis was nearby and Al and I stopped in to have lunch. The food was good and so was the service but I won't be going back. In an almost empty restaurant, they put two other parties close to us. One was rather closer than the other but the last three men in were way to close to the other couple who were diagonal across from us. So much for social distancing. From there I went to the Fed Ex store to do my return. It took more that 15 minutes, it was hot and with my mask I was feeling ill. Seriously, she took a phone call in the middle of helping me and stayed on it way too long. I know I am being picky but I felt like I was suffocating. From here I had to go to the jewelers to get a new battery for Al's watch. I waited while they took t into the back to do it and then was told they needed to adjust the hands so I would have to come back anther day. A last stop at the farm stand and I was able to go home and take off the mask!! I know we need to wear masks, I always wear one in public but in this heat, it is not pleasant. Other than that it was a quiet day, we did our exercise, I finished the 4 articles I had to do and talked to my friend, my brother Alain and my eldest son, texted with my middle son and talked several times to my daughter on the phone.

We have not ventured into restaurants yet - but indoor dining is not allowed again. It's weird, but I feel like my skin is actually nicer with the mask making it into a sauna for my face . We have to wear one in public here too. It'll be a gazillion dollar idea if someone could "invent" a cool mask!

Sounds like a not very pleasant day except for your contact with friends and family. I know what you mean about the masks, I feel like if I don't get it off I'm going to scream. It's so hot, but still I wear them faithfully.

I am going to buy a box of paper ones that my friend in VA tells me is much easier to breathe through. Hopefully, that will help, I can keep my cute ones for fall and winter.

@BelleStarr I've had fun making masks from different patterns and material. I have a lovely piece of deep red velvet, but that would sure have to wait for winter! I'm broiling in these cloth ones. I like Uncle Joe's idea of putting the masks in the freezer first.

I know that the mask is not pleasant with this heat, but I always wear mine, it is still too dangerous to get around without one. I am surprised that they do not respect the distancing rules where you had lunch. If we inform the police here, the restaurant gets closed.

@BelleStarr It is a good idea, may be the waiter are doing this to walk less around the tables, but it is not safe.

You had a very busy day. I don't blame you with the mask. My brother gave me one a while back. It was a thick, hard one and I wore it to one of my doctor visit's. While in the waiting room, I had to pull it away from my face several times because I couldn't breathe. I'm glad there was only one person in the waiting room with me. Now I have a much thinner one and I also have a cloth one. Both are so much easier to breathe with them on but even they can be difficult with it being so hot.

I'm sorry it was a difficult day. I can understand not going back to the restaurant when they don't practice social distancing. The Fed Ex person was rude. I'm sorry they couldn't adjust the hands on the watch right away. It sounds strange they couldn't as they always need to adjust mine and do it on the spot. I'm glad the rest of your day was good.

Restaurants aren't as vigilant about social distancing as I would like but thankfully I only go out to eat maybe once a month or less.

I am seeing that local restaurants are more vigilant and have more value for their customers so they know by name. Chains less so.

I got a shield and it works better than a mask and you can breath under it.

You had a busy and productive day, although it sounds like it was a demanding one. It's hard (and very uncomfortable) wearing masks in the heat, and so it can make people a little more cranky than usual. I've been in at least two restaurants in the last month where the staff did not properly social distance the customers when they sat them at the tables. It's not rocket science, they should have figured all this out before they re-opened and spaced their tables and booths in such a way to make it foolproof when seating customers.

We have no restaurants around here open for inside dining. We won't even venture out to an outside dining restaurant, even though we are healthy. I walked miles in the hot sun with a summer weight mask, and it didn't bother me one bit. It actually makes me feel good and that I am protecting others in case I'm a carrier.

My cloth mask just suffocated me. Almost all of our restaurants are open at 50% capacity. Our infection rates are very low

Its so odd to see people in a restaurant, we have not opened up for indoor dining as of yet. When I am out I wear my mask, but I take it off when I am in the car driving from 1 place to another because it is awfully hot and it gets hard to draw your breath after a while.

That was the issue inside the store. We are at 50% capacity for indoor dining and most places are keeping it at even less than that. This was just bad planning on their part!!
