Standing desk, sitting desk

I don't usually have a "desk job" but with corona closing the schools I have been using my computer to teach, for teachers' meetings and church, and also for a lot of other things. Until now I never understood why my colleagues in school offices wanted a "standing desk" or one that they could change from sitting to standing, because I spent most of my time standing. Now that I have been sitting at the computer for about five months, I have developed back and neck problems. So I put together a "standing desk" (two storage boxes and a brick) on top of my regular "desk" (not really a desk, just a flat surface where I keep the computer). I have been doing more work standing up at my computer and it really helps. Do you know about standing desks? Would you like to use one?

My nephew who is working from home in ADB (Asian Development Bank) has a standing desk and a sitting desk that he uses alternately. That is to avoid the fatigue on his muscles.

@petatonicsca as long as it can serve the purpose the material wouldn't matter. Enjoy working now.

They are nice. Mine is nice too, just not made of your usual desk materials.

I think you will love it. You can actually buy a folding thing to put on top of your desk to raise your computer to a standing desk position. I did it the cheap way.

They are, but I would rather get one that goes up and down if I had one at school. I often use the top of the grand piano (in my classroom) as a standing desk if nobody else is using my classroom.

This is a really good idea. I'm sure it helps avoid a lot of problems.

They've been around for maybe ten or twelve years, but just now becoming popular where I am. The people who are trying to look out for the health of people who sit all day developed them.

I have never heard about a standing desk. I am mostly sitting too and what I do is that at various times during the day I get up and walk around my apartment looking out the windows and then coming back to my PC again. It gets me moving.
