Do you think the lockdown really help us in preventing the spread of the virus?

In our city alone, we're under General Modified Community Quarantine. Public transportation are permitted to operate and businesses as well. But, because of the returning individuals from other places and abroad, almost everyday there are reported cases infected of the virus. The first local transmission was also recorded. Because of the rising numbers, and to control the people from going outside without valid purpose, it is planned that the use of quarantine pass must be revived. This means, only one member of the household can go out at one time provided that he has his pass with him otherwise if caught, a corresponding penalty is applied. Exempted on this are the front liners as they are considered authorized person outside residence. The effect of this is, those businesses particularly in services sector will once again suffer loss of income. Not only them but the employees as well because employer might cut down the number of employees to report to work.

Yes I think it does help if you don't allow anyone to step outside

I am against the lockdown because the positive effect is very, very small. What was achieved is the imposition of authority to restrict people not in the purpose of stopping the spread but simply to wield their authority on us.

@ZedSmart as they say, we will not die of the virus but we will die of hunger.

This time around, I am also not in favor because as much as we want to avoid the infection, some of us cannot afford to support our basic needs while on the situation like that.

If lock down, quarantining, social distancing and mask-wearing are properly applied and observed by everyone there is no doubt that it will prevent the infection from spreading too quickly. I think that has already been adequately proved in many countries. The Government should also put safeguards in place to ensure that people do not lose their jobs and are able to live through the measures. Unfortunately, this is expensive and many less well-off countries think that they cannot afford to pay people or prevent job losses. That is short-sighted, in my view.

That's additional problem to the government's part since the resources might be inadequate to sustain the needs of the people that are losing jobs, earnings, income, businesses.

YES! Lockdown really helps, in Europe it was lifted and now the number of new cases is very high again. Spain had almost zero cases at the end of the lockdown they had more than a thousand yesterday.

@ZedSmart They wanted to open because of the economy and the tourist season and now it is restarting. More than 2,000 new cases yesterday in Spain. Our authorities are considering to close the borders.

Physical distancing, wearing mask when going outside, washing or sanitizing hands and never touch it on nose, eyes, mouth. These are all the other ways they are recommending and of course, we people follow.

Oh yes. When a criminal is out of the jail he spreads violence. When a deadly virus is out of control it kills people.

I am also thinking that reviving the economy is vital as we cannot also survive when it ceased to operate. Really tough choices.

I think it's very effective because our country only had 100-200 cases per day during the complete lockdown compared to 1,000 -2000 when we started easing and opening things up but it would also cause an economic collapse and more people might die from hunger, malnutrition and other diseases.

@ZedSmart as we go further from the day we got the first case the general tendency that we would expect is to go up, that is going viral in the literal sense of the word even if in my opinion we sideline for a while the factor that we now have increased testing. More cases the more viral it would be, it's acquired through physical contact so lockdowns would definitely be a factor. Hard headedness to follow rules should also be something to take to account although it's difficult to make an accurate data.

The increase of the number maybe also a result of the number of testing performed.

Yes, the lockdown should help. The virus must be controlled before business can resume.

In some areas, where cases are not high the restriction is lowered but there are still protocol to follow.

it should be effective if all residents strictly follow the rules. social distancing should be made aware of, even the wearing of masks.

@ZedSmart that is why the curve here has not YET flattened even for just a day. our secretary of health receives a sumptuous amount for his salary, but whatever he says and does for our country due to covid, only amount to ONE CENTAVO.
