If you were going to retire, are you going to sell your hour house and travel around the world?

Let's talk about your retirement plan. I read an article that an old couple sold their house and plan to travel around the globe. I think it is a silly idea, especially now. What do you think about this idea? What do you think it is like to be retired?

This idea doesn't look very appealing to me because I love to travel across globe and visit various countries, but to me, nothing can give me the special feeling of being in my country, my home.

You said it right. As they claimed, 'There's no place like home.' We can be a traveler, but there is no need to sell our abodes.

I have and I haven’t. I have retired, and I haven’t sold my house. My house is paid off (I’ve lived here for 31 years), so I can’t ever find another place with a $0 mortgage/rent. That gives me the extra freedom of having a place to “land” when things like this coronavirus lockdown come around.

For me, it is really not a good idea to sell our houses just because of having this kind of passion. At present, we are still planning to build a new house. Because of this pandemic, it will be delayed.

Now is not a good time to travel. I think that cruises are canceled and airplane travel is dangerous because of the virus. You could go on the road but you don't know who has the virus.

In every angle, it is not a good idea. We are really in a nightmare situation and need to secure ourselves as much as possible.

If we were younger we would be tempted to do this - and pre-coronavirus of course. We wouldn't do it now.

I agree. I hope we can retrieve our stolen land property in the province. We will sell it and build our new house here in my city.

Really? I think it is fine if we can invest some of the money and then, we changed our mind, we can have it again.

People in England can get a government pension if they have at least 10 years showing up on their National Insurance record. I have got 26 years however I need 35 years. I had 8 years where I didn't have any so I bought 2 years. In May 2019 I began paying into a private pension. I will retire at 67 years old. So therefore I will let out my home if I haven't got enough money to travel. I hope to travel around the world when I retire. Traveling is appealing though it is never worth losing your home.

I am sure it will be a good way to enjoy life. I also noticed my mom and she loves gardening after having retirement.

I’m a home person, so if I retired I think staying at home is the best thing for me. Maybe sometimes I will do short travelling, but mostly the thing that I do is staying at home

There is nothing wrong if we can travel once in a blue moon. The most important is to have a p[ace to live in after.
