“Blue Bayou” is among my favorite songs sung by Roy Orbison. He gives it just the right touch that makes you truly want to head out to a bayou. The song was written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson. It was recorded by Orbison in 1963 and became an international hit. Years later Linda Ronstadt did a cover of the song and it became her signature song. The song is on Orbison’s album In Dreams.
“Blue Bayou” has been included in movies like “The Man Who Fell to Earth” and “Last Orders” among others.

Ooh, what a voice. This song is a great example of how a person (Ronstadt) can masterfully do a cover and make it their own without doing any damage to the original. It’s a very fine line to walk. And hooray to Orbison for writing such a beautiful song!

I like Orbison's version; but I prefer Ronstadt's cover. Have a great weekend.
