Sometimes You Just Have to Go With Gaudy

. Gaudy-extravagantly bright or showy, typically so as to be tasteless. My husband and I dug up all the plants from the 5 gardens we have in our front yard. The former owner of this house made the front yard look like a jungle due to his planting a mass of perennials of every shape and size. We only planted yellow rose bushes in our now nothing-in-them gardens. I noticed that the wreath-like accent I always place on our front door in spring was filled with pink and white blooms; no yellow!!. That just would not do because all the roses in front are yellow. I took my handy glue gun and secured some fake yellow blooms to that wreath-like accent piece, some little, sparkly green gems, and some rather ugly green leaves. too. It is a gaudy-looking door accent but sometimes all you can do is go with gaudy. Next spring, I will buy a less-gaudy wreath for the front door that has lots of yellow blooms on it.

You did a fine job getting rid of the colors you do not want. Hopefully, you will find the perfect wreath for your front door.

Yes, next spring there will be a different wreath. In September, I change to a fall wreath so I won't have to put up with this one much longer.

Thank you. I was gluing anything I could find on that wreath-thing. It sure does draw a lot of attention to itself.

The only time I see wreaths on my friends doors is when Thankgiving starts, I don't do wreaths at all.

I do a wreath for every season. Winter is covered due to the Christmas wreath.

I like it and would use it instead of you throwing it away. I also would have driven over and picked up all the perennials you dumped. Ah well, we know I'm too busy for that idea.

Yes, you would have made good use of all those perennials. Way too much work for me. I am starting to like the wreath a bit more.

@Corbin5 my mom here roses too and I had them when I moved away from home. I don't remember any instruction on hope to prime then but I'm not really into roses. I'm probably the only woman in Earth that prefers a different bouquet of flowers too.

I don't think it looks bad at all. You might be able to find a wreath at a reasonable price at the end of summer when all the summer things are on sale.

Sometimes, you're too funny, Deborah! While I wouldn't put something like that on my front door, I certainly don't see it as gaudy.

@Corbin5, Well to be frank, it look dull for the front gate. But sometimes we do not have much options. And we have to depend on what is available with us.

It's a flowerful floral fancy, but I wouldn't call this gaudy. Gaudy to me is over the top ugliness that you can't place tastefully anywhere. This is quite pretty !
