Dermatologist Visit on Friday

On Friday, Al and I both had dermatologist appointments. I had a growth on my face to the side of my left eye and Al had two lumps on his head. We are now growth and lumpless. I removed my bandaid and you can see that I have a red spot where the growth was. Both of them will be sent to the pathologist. Our dermatologist does not think either of them are cause for worry. We both had a little bit of pain, more of a sting after the numbness wore off but it was worth it. We decided to do it now because we saved $40 each on our specialist visit due to free copays from our insurance company through September. MIght as well take advantage.

That's a great deal. I'm glad that they think it's no cause for worry. My husband has had several cancerous growths removed from his face and leg.

@BelleStarr Yes, we had no idea that it was so bad for us. I used to bake in the sun every weekend during the summer.

I'm glad that you both got your growths removed. Its not until I read a post like this that I realize the vast differences in our health care between our countries. We do not pay for procedures such as you had done.

@Juliaacv Yes it is a tradeoff, here we rarely have a wait of any substance to get a visit with any specialty.

We pay the copay and then I will get charged for some of the pathology. But on the other hand, I made the appointment three weeks ago, we went to see him two weeks ago and the surgery was Friday, no delays and no long waits.

@BelleStarr That is the downfall to our healthcare system, you have to be referred to any specialist and then you play the waiting game. I'm a little concerned about what my doctor may be telling me at my appointment later on this month. My kidneys are not working properly, and I fear that I'll have to see a nephrologist, which will be a wait.

I didn’t know Friday was the official “go to the dermatologist” day. I went to my dermatologist Friday, too!

@BelleStarr — it wa$ productive from the per$pective of the dermatologi$t. I had a nasty sunburn when I was stationed in Hawaii, so I have to get checked twice a year. No problems, as usual, thank God!

Glad you got those things taken care of, and saved some money in the process. That reminds me that I need to make an appointment to see my dermatologist as well.

So glad your growths and bumps are gone. Thank goodness for your insurance. Fortunately, we haven’t had anything removed, but our insurance would cover it all except for a $15 co-pay.

I hit my dermatologist once a year for a general skin check up unless something 'appears' and then I go again! For some reason the older you get the 'stranger' things you get!!

Going to the dermatologist when you did was a smart thing to do, especially with the free co-pays.
