What do you think makes for a good friend?

It’s not easy to find friends! Since I’ve moved to Jamaica 7 years ago I can probably admit I’ve not made any REAL friends except for two or three who have since returned to their home countries. As an adult, it’s not the same as when we grew up and made friends everywhere. I think we expect more from friends as adults. How do you guys find it? Has anyone moved to a new place and found it hard to make friends?

Circumstances prooved that whom you called a "Friend" is a good friend. In my opinion good friends are not made they become.

Like you I don't have any friends in Jamaica. If I moved there, I would find it difficult too. I guess you have to join local groups of like-minded people.

Depends on the place we are moving I think. How the environment or neighbors welcome one...

I've found that different people define 'real' friends differently. I know a guy who would say that someone he hadnt heard from in 3 months is not a real friend but I would say you it doesnt matter how long you go without talking to them if something changes just because you arent in each others pockets that to me isnt real friendship

I don speak to some of my “real” friends for months at a time and when we do finally see each other we start right back as if no time has passed at all!

@rachelennia Exactly... Could you imagine having a "friend" that just ditches you after not speaking for a while? Immature much?

I don't think we need to have many friends, even if there are few friends, the important thing is we can understand each other
