The birds were glad

The birds were pleased I got started on my mowing. It stirs up bugs for them to eat. The shorter grass means they are hid less well. Butterflies were kind of annoyed, I think. They were afraid I would take down all the flowers. Surprise! I left the tall red clover standing for their feasts. I mentioned that once my Dad gave me the moon. How do you entertain a little kid, on a long trip, in the dark, in the country? We were headed to see my mom's family. More than likely it was August, because my birthday and my grandfather's birthday were close together. I probably asked for about the millionth time how long until we were there. Dad had kind of a sense of humor, and was in some ways better than mom in the patience area. He changed the subject. He had me look out the back window of the car, at the full moon. He said that it belonged to me. He gave it to me. I am thinking I was about four years old, as I do not remember my brother being in the car. And to this day, I know that the full moon belongs to me.

I can imagine you did. Moms are often over tired and feel so responsible. They forget to have fun.

How cute is that? I'm a bit jealous. I don't think I was ever given the moon.

You hear about people who want to give you the moon. I think I was the only one I ever knew who was given it.
