Often I dreamt of living beside a river near a forest. Eventually, I got a wooden bungalow built on a place of my liking. I used to see wild animals come out and roam near the bungalow. Most animals were harmless but I had to be careful with elephants. Gradually, I learned to live with them. They didn't harm me except once they uprooted my arecanut plants. A railroad that joins Assam with the rest of India passes by. One day, I was shocked to see an elephant killed by a passing train. But this was not the only one to lose his life on the railroad. Many of them have been the victims of these human machines after that day. Though the authorities have advised the drivers to be careful but unfortunately, such accidents keep happening.

Omg ..though I'm longing to live a peaceful life in the open I can't imagine living so close to the forest

They don't know how to save themselves from speeding trains. We humans have to do everything to protect them.
