We Have No Power

Hurricane Isiais hit us hard in Ct. we lost power yesterday afternoon and have had no word about when we can expect to be restored. My fridge and freezer are full which worries me. And my yard looks like a war zone. It wasn’t much fun trying to sleep in this heat with no a/c or a fan. I have only my phone at the moment to post this . With the pandemic I don’t want to go anywhere looking for power. Kasey I know is out as well. So here we are feeling like pioneers. I am not sure I have any propane for our grill so can’t even cook that way. We really haven’t used it in a couple years. So that’s where I am this Wednesday morning, how is your day going?

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry, this is what worries me most when I store a lot of food in the freezer and refrigerator. If you often have this problem you should invest in a small power generator, at least for the refrigerator and freezer.

We didn't lose power, which is unusual with all the wind we had yesterday. Normally we lose power in such a storm. However, if we did lose power, we thankfully have a generator. Having 2 freezers we need a generator to keep them going. I hope that your power comes back on soon. Maybe you can go out for some ice to keep in the freezer and fridge. It helps, I speak from experience. LOL.

@BelleStarr I hope that you now have power. Generators can actually be dangerous for many reasons. Ours is outside, but close to the house. I want my husband to move it next time we need to use it so the fumes can go into the air and not come in our home. Can never be too careful. Read about a family in another state that was using their generator and it malfunctioned and because it was near their home, their home caught fire.

@ElusiveButterfly our son Steve came over and got it going so the fridge is keeping things cold. I also made coffee and fried up some eggs to make egg sandwiches. I plugged in the keurig, the single burner and the toaster!! It was yummy

Wow, so sorry to hear that you are in that predicament. I really hope you get your power restored quickly and that the items in your fridge and freezer don't spoil. Isn't it crazy that you got hit by a hurricane in Connecticut but didn't when you were in Florida? Who would have ever thought that. Take care, and keep us updated as you're able to.

@BelleStarr Glad to hear from you. Hope you get your power soon and that you don't lose much from the freezer. If you see any trucks that say bGulf Power they are from this region as they sent a caravan of crew and trucks up that way to help restore power.

I am glad you could get help from your son to set up the generator. When things do not work even the small things like breakfast are wonderful.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. We lost power for just a short time yesterday, but I remember many hurricanes that were really bad. I pray you'll get your power back on very soon. I know they're expensive, but those automatic generators would be nice for you to have. Prayers for you all.

During a pandemic like this it is safer at home, by preparing food supplies at home and of course the internet that can support work

I am sorry that you have been going thru this, but thankful that you have no terrible damages to your home or anything. I remember losing our power on 3 different occasions over the course of the first week in August in 1999. Of course life was much different then compared to now.
