Sequel to Dirty Dancing is coming... / myLot

I never thought this day would come but I just found out that a sequel to the classic, iconic Dirty Dancing movie starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze is in the works. And Jennifer Grey is set to reprise her role as Baby (Frances Houseman). Would have been incredible to see Patrick Swayze reprise the role of Johnny Castle. I wonder if he would have reprised his role if he were still alive today. I am so excited. I wonder what the storyline will be and when the movie will eventually come out... I can't wait! I've really enjoyed the remakes but none come close to the original. I hope the sequel will be just as amazing as the original Dirty Dancing was many years ago and remains still to this day.

Obviously, because of how much Jennifer Grey has aged, she'll probably be a mother and the story will be about her son/daughter. At least that's what I'm thinking.

I am curious to know if Baby and Johnny went their separate ways after he came back to do the dance with her and never saw each other again, or if they stayed together, or if they went their separate ways and then reconnected.

What if she has kids now and she goes to a resort and one of her kids meets another person... like she met Johnny?

Cross your fingers that the sequel to Dirty Dancing is even better than the original. Famous old saying "What can you do for encore?" Hopefully the actor who replaces the late Patrick Swayze will make him proud.

I wonder if the character of Johnny will even be in the movie. Hope so, though will be weird to see anyone other than Patrick play him.

@lovebuglena That is true since replacing the late Patrick Swayze will be a huge challenge if Johnny returns in the sequel.

The original was so perfect that I can't see them equaling or topping it. I am looking forward to this movie.

If Jennifer Grey is in it, it has to be great. I read that she was asked to be a part of the 2017 remake that was done for ABC but not as Baby. She had turned that down. Of course, she wouldn't be able to play Baby because of her age. Wonder what character she was asked to play.
