It Was A Tomato Sandwich Kind of Day

Happy Thursday everyone. we had pool exercise this morning at 9:45, it was an hour well spent. On the way home I stopped at the local farm stand and got some corn on the cob, local peaches, nectarines and blueberries. I also bought two large tomatoes.
When we got home I went to work on some bills I needed to pay with bill pay and then I made some tomato sandwiches for lunch. I love tomato sandwiches, I like them with mayo, Al, however, prefers butter.
As far as I am concerned, tomato sandwiches are one of the best parts of summer. I don't eat tomato sandwiches at any other time of year. Fruits and vegetables are at their best right now.
I have some writing to do that I will work on this afternoon and some shredding I want to do.
It is warm here today but not as humid as it has been. Next week it seems we will have much more comfortable weather, I sure hope so.
How are things here you are?

I think I'm due for some fresh corn on the cob. I have a ton of shredding to do too. Next week will be in the 70s here in Ohio; and the AC could use a break. Have a great day!

I made the corn on the cob for dinner. Have you ever cooked it in the microwave with the husks on? 4 minutes and then let it sit for 5 minutes and it was perfect.

@BelleStarr Yes, that's the way we make it all of the time. So much easier than boiling it.

I don't think I've ever had a plain tomato sandwich, but it does sound like it would be something good to eat, especially at this time of year. I agree this is the perfect time of year to enjoy fruits and vegetables.

You need good bread, good tomatoes and ideally mayo salt and pepper and that's it, it so simple but so delicious.

Many of my friends love them as well, mayo is better than butter with this sandwich.

We haven't really had any rain in a while either. Have a lovely weekend. Enjoy the lake or the ocean whichever way you go.

I grew up on a tomato farm, so August always signaled another chore as a child I had to ride my bike out to the tomato field and pick some tomatoes for the table. We never asked our tomato pickers to do that. Surprisingly enough I was the only member of the family who did not like tomatoes. The first summer that my hubby and I were dating he was so happy to go out to the field to pick some for the table, he would even eat some right there in the field.
