Update: Half-Face Shield Proposition

Let me share an issue that arose for using a face shield in public here in the Philippines. A doctor proposed to use an upper half-face shield with a face mask. According to him, it will serve as a reminder not to rub a person's eyes. It does not need to have a full-face shield to cover the face since the lower half of the face is covered with a face mask. Personally, he has his point with this concern. Since I cannot breathe normally with the face mask and adding up with a face shield, it will affect more of my breathing pattern. In this case, why not use a pair of goggles instead? What do you think about this proposal? Does it make sense? Image Credit: encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com

This is what our doctors suggested to wear a pair of covering eyeglasses and a mask, a lot more effective than those face shileds.

I honestly agree with the doctor's claimed. I also think that having a pair of goggles is a good idea.

@Shavkat It is just to avoid to accidentally touch your eyes, normal eyeglasses (or sunglasses) should serve the purpose.

Although there is another argument that eyeshield may not become as effective since air droplet may have an easier access to your eyes if it is only half. The purpose why they want a full face shield is for the droplets to be shielded fully from any droplets that may hit the face. Full face shield will also remind not to touch the whole face not only the eyes. But between the two the eye shield looks much better since the face shield looks like your a welder already.

I also had the weird feeling of using the full face-shield. It does look like a welder.I do agree that full face-shield is good for medial frontliners because they are in close contact with COVID-19 patients. Most of these patients will cough out respiratory droplets.

@Shavkat The presumption is always that we have to wear them like we are carriers and we do not want to infect others not the other way around.

@rsa101 I agree. I hope that all people can understand the usage of these things. Have you read about the anti-maskers?
I am checking this video and it made me insane. Some people are still against using face masks. They claimed that their freedoms were violated. Is this how we...

I wouldn't wear both. I wear glasses so I'm covered there and I do wear my face mask.

I think it is also a good option to wear a pair of eyeglasses.

Yes, it makes sense. But the best way to steer clear of the virus is to stay indoors.

I do agree with that. But we need to buy things to survive, too.

I don't think it would be sensible for most people.

I also agree with you. I cannot understand why the local government is doing this lately. Perhaps they are in a panic because of the increased incidence of COVID-19 cases here.

That half face shield not very practical, not to mention expensive and over price. I rather have my face mask.

I haven't tried to ask how much is it. Regardless, I am using the full face-shield, but it is too hot to use it.

There is a point in wearing half face shield . The eye can be protected from rubbing with our own fingers. Goggle is also good option .
